Deserves better than adequate

To the editor:

I read the letter "Jackson facilities are adequate." I don't think students having to study in converted storage spaces or having to sing in bathrooms is adequate. Neither is attending functions in the gym where the air conditioning cannot cool it. And the plumbing is worn out.

The school was adequate 30 years ago. Without modern school facilities, people will not want to relocate here. We have some of the best teachers in the state. How long will they stay in an "adequate" school?

As far as these kids telling us how to vote, they are the ones who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq and other hot spots in the world. They are fighting for the right for us to vote for a school that is more than adequate for future generations. They don't pay property taxes with money. They pay with their blood, time and courage so that those who do pay property taxes can complain about the school only being adequate.

Which is more important: the money we save by being adequate, or the future our youths and community?
