'Grease' shows energy, hard work of cast, crew and director

To the editor:

On Saturday night I attended the Central High School production of "Grease" and was proud of the cast, crew and director. Every night the house was full of proud parents and supportive friends who enjoyed and celebrated the energy and hard work these young people had put into the production.

In reading the program, I see that a few of the students have decided to focus on the arts in their college careers (take an accounting class — always have a backup). These students have received, at the hands of Mr. and Mrs. Bradshaw, experience essential to their success in future studies. It was educators like the Bradshaws who encouraged me to dare to dream of a future in the arts years ago. But even those students with no interest in a life in the arts have acquired experiences that will stay with them as they move into adulthood, the experience of working (through rain, sleet, and snow) on a major undertaking and having that work pay off, the experience of teamwork and camaraderie that is inherent in taking part in a theatrical production, and memories of the applause of people who understand and appreciate all of the work that has gone into their endeavors. These experiences should not be undersold.

I applaud the efforts of all who were involved in this production. I know there were many parents, staff members and community members integral to the success as well, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
