Area women appointed to state work force board

Two Southeast Missouri women were appointed Monday to the Missouri Workforce Investment Board by Gov. Matt Blunt. The board, created by the legislature last year, is designed to provide work force investment activities through state and local systems that increase employment, retention, and earnings. The board is also directed to focus on worker skills in ways that enhance productivity and the competitiveness of Missouri business. The new Southeast Missouri members of the board are Martha Black of Charleston, Mo., executive director of the Susanna Wesley Family Learning Center, and Sheila Hitt of Advance, Mo., vice president and senior loan officer for First Commercial Bank. Both appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
