Storm help offered to pet owners in region

ST. LOUIS -- Pet owners in storm-stricken parts of Southeast Missouri are getting some relief from the Humane Society of Missouri in St. Louis. The group's Disaster Response Team set up animal rescue operations Friday in New Madrid, Mo. It's also setting up a temporary shelter for pet owners from New Madrid, Butler and Pemiscot counties who remain without water or power. Meanwhile, six cats and 54 dogs were sent Friday to St. Louis from the Humane Society shelter Caruthersville. That shelter has no electricity, heat or water.
