Frozen to the Ground

Winter Ice Stroms don't just damage power lines, trees, and buildings...any aircraft caught outside run the risk of being targeted for a trip to the repair shop...once they're chipped loose from the ground. Heavy, clear ice can make a car or truck gain a lot of weight, but ice build up on an airplane's surfaces can change it's balance enough to make it fall on it's tail. There's a chance of further damage once the ice starts to thaw, releasing one part of the frame, while other frozen areas are still stuck to the ground.
