A police dog sniffs mail for explosives at the post office at 420 E. 189th St. in the Bronx borough of New York City in this photo published Oct. 15, 1972, in The New York Times. Federal documents linked the explosives used in a letter bomb that exploded at the post office to an attempted attack by Khalid Duhham Al-Jawary on Israeli targets in 1973. Postal worker William Figueroa was injured in the blast at the post office.
