GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Marvin T. Fiehler, 72, of Grand Island died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Golden Living Center at Lakeview, Neb.
Fiehler was born March 4, 1936, at Frohna, Mo., son of George and Oneida Mangels Fiehler.
Fiehler was raised and received his education in Missouri. He graduated from Perryville High School in Perryville, Mo. He entered the United States Army on Dec. 3, 1958, and was honorably discharged Nov. 17, 1960. Fiehler worked as a ranchhand on ranches near Broken Bow, Neb., was in construction in North Platte, Neb., and worked for Oakleaf Auto Crushing in Grand Island. He also worked for 15 years with racing thoroughbreds. Fiehler was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Fiehler of Central City, Neb.; a sister, Dorthea Militzer of Altenburg, Mo.; and five brothers, Harlan Fiehler of Thebes, Ill., George C. Fiehler of Juneau, Alaska, Raymond Fiehler of St. Louis, Elwin Fiehler of Monrovia, Calif., and Edgar Fiehler of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kris Rebentisch and Vicar Greg Enterline will officiate, with burial at a later date in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Neb.
