A man who escaped from the custody of a Cape Girardeau County sheriff's deputy Wednesday evening may be in Cape Girardeau, police said. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper Nathan Wheeles, the deputy stopped Roberto Carlos Albarado-Martinez, who also goes by the alias Roberto Carlos Aguilar, for an equipment violation Wednesday at mile marker 116 on Interstate 55 southbound. Wheeles said Albarado-Martinez then presented fraudulent documents to the deputy, who contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. The man then fled on foot.
Albarado-Martinez faces charges from the highway patrol and ICE officials.
