Adult piano lessons offered

The Southeast Missouri Music Academy at Southeast Missouri State University will offer an eight-week adult piano class beginning Jan. 26. The class will meet from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays. "Piano in a Flash" is for beginners or those wishing to brush up on beginning skills learned in the past. Instruction will begin at "square one" and is taught in a light, relaxed atmosphere. Skills covered include note and rhythm identification, proper hand position, basic chord structure and ensemble playing. The class will be held in the electronic piano lab in the Seminary Building at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Students must be at least 18 years of age and have access to a piano on a daily basis. Opera performed at Bedell

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" will be performed by the music department at Southeast Missouri State University. The opera focuses on Figaro and Susanna's quest for the Count's permission to be married and then their ultimate collaboration with the Countess to expose the Count for the womanizer he is. will be in the Bedell Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23-24.
