Cape Girardeau County Commission reverses communication policy, also gives park board OK to plan long-termMonday, January 12, 2009The Cape Girardeau County Commission Monday morning rescinded a policy instituted in May preventing one commissioner from discussing business with department heads assigned to other commissioners. Presiding Commissioner Gerald Jones, who wrote the policy with county prosecutor Morley Swingle, said it was "a bad policy." The commission agreed unanimously to allow the county parks adivsory board to develop a long-term strategic plan.
The commissioners also agreed to revisit whether Swingle should be allowed to promote his novels on the county website. That discussion is scheduled for Thursday's meeting. For more on this story, return to www.semissourian.com or read Tuesday's newespaper.
