COMMERCE, Mo. -- Woodrow Pearson, 90, of Commerce died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born July 6, 1918, in Melvin, Ala., son of Coleman and Verma Pearson. He married Lillie Mae Allen, who died May 25, 2001.
Pearson was a farmer and member of St. James AME Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his mother of Melvin; five sons, Jimmy Pearson of Goose Creek, S.C., Kenneth Pearson of Lincoln, Neb., Larry Pearson of Baton Rouge, La., Lonnie Pearson of Cape Girardeau, Terry Pearson of Liberty Township, Ohio; five daughters, Barbara Blissett of Bowling Green, Ky., Beverly Pearson of Portageville, Mo., Evelyn Brown of Shipman, Ill., Joyce Pearson and Linda Williamson of Sikeston.
Also five brothers, Clemas, Elmer, James and Maxie Pearson of Melvin, Samuel Pearson of Huntington, Mass.; six sisters, Abby Harvey of Trinity, Texas, Annie Hunter of Cleveland, Louise McGraw of Mobile, Ala., Jeanette Harris and Lorine Reed of Melvin, Polly Pearson of Miami; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at St. James Church in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Debbie Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
