ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals are adding a third left-handed reliever to the bullpen competition for next season, signing Royce Ring to a one-year contract.
The Cardinals announced the addition Monday.
The 28-year-old Ring was 2-1 with an 8.46 ERA in 42 games with the Braves last season after making the opening day roster for the first time in his career. Ring faded after going 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA through June.
Earlier, the Cardinals signed Trever Miller to a free agent deal and claimed Charlie Manning off waivers in hopes of upgrading a problem area last season.
