New Year's Eve Party with the Mike Renick Band
The Mike Renick Band will play a relaxed show at the River City Yacht Club at Port Cape Girardeau. Usually, the restaurant does an upscale, couples thing, but this year, they're living it up with a $10 cover, light hors d'oeuvres, a champagne toast and party supplies. The Renick Band will play crowd favorites and songs from their new Album, "Lucky One." Their college rock tunes always fill the dance floor. Doors open at 8 p.m., music begins at 9:30 p.m.
Bottom Feeders Blues Band
The St. Louis blues band Bottom Feeders Blues Band plays in Cape enough to be confused with a local band. We don't mind, though. Their dirty blues always make for a good time. They'll play a New Year's party at Thirsty's for a $3 cover. Party starts at 9 p.m. and lasts until 2009.
John D. Hale Band
John D. will bring his band and their homegrown country rock to Club Moxy for New Year's. This group is a blend of country, rock and bluegrass, which gives its music a definite Americana feel. Hale has tried to steer away from writing mainstream country music, and he has developed his own style of honest country. Club Moxy, 9 p.m.
New Year's Eve Party with Oh for Audio
One of the younger bands on the Cape Scene, these five are quick-risers with infectious vocals and perfectly complementing guitar licks worthy of their own spotlight. See them see in the new year at Buckner Brewing Co., 9 p.m. If you want to take a break, take to the basement where Ragsdales will have a live DJ for your dancing pleasure.
These Cape Girardeau reggae rockers have a funbeat show with words you can sing along with. They cite 311, OAR and Reel Big Fish as real big influences. They'll rock Rude Dog Pub at 9 p.m.
New Year's Eve Party with Ivas John Band
Jimmi's Restaurant & Bar has closed in their porch to keep you warm or grab a spot in the sleek bar or dining area to ring in the new year with ringing guitar as Ivas and friends play blues like few can. Starts at 8 p.m. Reservations recommended, 803-0800.
