Investigation underway in Wednesday robbery of video game console, cash

Friday, December 12, 2008

Cape Girardeau police are searching for two men suspected of robbing another man of an Xbox 360 game system and about $100 in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday afternoon. The robbery was reported by the victim at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday at 2861 Themis St.

Sgt. Barry Hovis of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said the victim arranged a meeting to sell his Xbox 360 to an individual he knew on a first-name basis. When the victim arrived on the scene, one individual presented a gun and ordered him to hand over the video game system and any cash on hand.

The suspected robber then left with another individual who was driving an Oldsmobile Delta 88. Hovis said his department is applying for a warrant on the robber and accomplice and have enough information for an arrest.

The names of the robber and accomplice could be released today. However, Hovis said the investigation is still ongoing. Hovis said the two men are Cape Girardeau residents and have a criminal history.
