Amphibians and reptiles visit Centenary Preschool

This snapping turtle quickly got the attention of three and four-year-olds at Centenary Preschool in Cape Girardeau Tuesday morning. Mary Jane Fieser, a naturalist with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), presented a program about amphibians and reptiles of Missouri, giving the children a chance to view turtles, frogs and snakes up close.

Two MDC naturalists and two education specialists at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center conduct interpretive workshops for the public. Fieser said she enjoyed helping the children connect with nature in a new and educational way.
