Travel agent named Disney specialist

Carmel Dare of Elite Travel and Cruises, 354 S. Silver Springs Road, Suite C, in Cape Girardeau, is the travel agency's newest Disney specialist. Dare achieved the accomplishment after graduating from the College of Disney Knowledge.

Sylvan hires new director of education

Tony Minghi is the new director of education at Sylvan Learning Center, 107 West Drive, Suite A, in Cape Girardeau. A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Minghi student taught at Cape Girardeau Central High School and Scott City High School before receiving his bachelor of science in secondary education from Southeast. He will be responsible for developing an individualized program for each student, monitoring the day-to-day progress of students at Sylvan and meeting with parents to report student progress within the program. He will assist Sylvan director Kris Hartman in managing the teaching staff.

Modern Woodmen announces awards

Modern Woodmen of America Fraternal Financial announced financial representatives in Missouri's East Region who achieved recent accomplishments. Ginger Dunn of Cape Girardeau earned the company's rookie of the month for November. Dunn, along with Krysten Price of Cape Girardeau, recently completed Kaplan Financial's Ethics for the Insurance Professional Course. Bob Houchins of Jackson completed Kaplan Financial's Introduction to Advanced Markets Course. Ken Volkerding of Jackson was named Membership Leader for October. Modern Woodmen of America's Missouri East Region agency is headed by Randy Rainwater of Farmington, Mo.

NARS worker awarded child care credential

Niomie Newell of Jackson has been awarded a Child Development Associate Credential in recognition of her work with young children. The credential was awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which respresents the early childhood education profession. Newell is employed by NARS, 2102 William St., as a child-care provider.
