'Run for Water' raises more than $4,000

Jared Ritter, 17, of Cape Girardeau, raised $4,448.21 with his "Run for Water" on July 25. Jared ran 20 miles from Cape Girardeau to Jackson and back. He is pictured donating the check to the Blood:Water Mission office in Nashville, Tenn. The money will provide 4,448 African people clean drinking water for one year or will allow a community to build one well. The Blood:Water Mission has a goal of building 1,000 wells in Africa. So far 530 wells have been completed.
