Man sentenced for dumping biodiesel waste into Pemiscot County ditchTuesday, November 25, 2008ST. LOUIS -- A Southeast Missouri man has been sentenced to two years of probation and fined $10,000 for violating the Clean Water Act. James Raulerson pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced Monday in federal court in St. Louis. He admitted dumping waste from a biodiesel plant into the water supply in Pemiscot County. The investigation began in October 2007 when the Missouri Department of Conservation received an anonymous call that a tanker truck was discharging contents into Belle Fountain Ditch in Hermondale, Mo. Investigators found decomposing glycerin in the ditch. Conservation officials said at least 30,000 fish and other aquatic life were killed. Raulerson is the owner of Raulerson Farms. Comments |

Wondering what the disposal fee was for this truckload, and whether this hauler was paid by the biodiesel plant for not just trucking but also for the cost of disposing of the waste.
Looks like a great revenue opportunity. Did the fine more than offset the profit made by dumping instead of disposing properly?
