Vote yes on school issue

To the editor:

On Nov. 2, the voters of Jackson School District will have an opportunity to vote on an important school issue. The issue is a much-needed building program for the Jackson High School campus. I am writing this letter to encourage you to vote "YES" on Nov. 2.

The building needs at JHS have been with us for a long time and will not go away, but only continue to worsen and will only cost more in the future. If anyone has any doubts about the building needs on the high school campus, I would encourage you to tour the buildings and see for yourself. I think you would agree with the proposed improvements. The current high school campus is inadequate in terms of space and program offerings for the current student enrollment, and our district will continue to grow in enrollment. We need to address those needs now.

The Jackson Board of Education, administration and staff are to be commended for developing a sound, sensible, well thought out and practical building program proposal for JHS. It will enable the school district to meet the facility and program needs of a growing school community. Again, I encourage you to support the school election on Nov. 2.
