Overcast ~ River stage: 33.86 Rising Saturday, November 21, 2009 |
Speak Out 11/18/08Tuesday, November 18, 2008Humane treatment WHEN TIMES are tough, we do what we can to survive. Unfortunately, some people think leaving their dogs and cats on country roads is helping. Perhaps they think someone will give them a home. Please understand that this is not the case. Usually, one of four things happens: 1. They starve. 2. They wander into some other dogs' territory and get mauled to death. 3. They get run over 4. They get shot. When you adopt a pet, this is your responsibility until death do you part. If you cannot provide for an animal, do not adopt. And if you made the mistake of adopting and find out you can't provide for the animal, take it to the humane society's animal shelter. Wholesome theater WHATEVER happened to entertainment? Instead of "thought-provoking" and "controversial," why can't the theater present good, wholesome entertainment? The theater today is used to promote political and immoral agendas. The use of profanity and sexual innuendo should not be allowed in a taxpayer-funded university program. It's not entertaining nor educational. What it amounts to is verbal pornography. Profanity is the effort of a feeble mind trying to express itself. Pay-raise plan THE CITY has chosen to give its employees a lump sum instead of a cost-of-living raise. This is the same thing Procter & Gamble did to its employees a year ago. On the surface this doesn't look like a bad idea for the employees, but if an employee has a few years to go in his career, he winds up losing thousands of dollars. Tax bill goes up I RECEIVED my real estate tax bill. Imagine my surprise when I found my taxes had gone up 10 percent over last year. If real estate taxes are supposed to be based on assessed valuation, and if the value of my home dropped 20 percent this year, should my tax bill have gone down, not up? Senior reality IN RESPONSE to the comment "No break for seniors": Obviously you are not a senior citizen living on Social Security, I am. Someday you will see just how wealthy we are. Who do you think supported this country with the taxes we paid all our working years? We senior citizens. Now, you begrudge us any kind of tax breaks. We get one check a month. No overtime, no bonuses. Sometimes it's a stretch to make that check last all month. Political mess ONE QUOTE from a reprinted essay in the December issue of Harper's says it all. "The collapse of America's financial system is a result of America's banks operating in a free-for-all environment that American legislators created. Republicans and Democrats both endorsed deregulation of financial markets that produced the crisis. It is America's political class that, for embracing the dangerously simplistic ideology of self-regulating markets, bears responsibility for the current mess." Seeds of discord BEING A lawyer, David Limbaugh surely knows the legal difference between ordinary speech and hate speech. As pointed out on the Internet site, www.mediamatters.org, the radio purveyors of hate speech extend far beyond the usual suspects. Collectively, they have rendered civil discourse an almost fatal blow. The Obama administration must use the power at its disposal to root out these hatemongers and render them impotent in their admittedly capable ability to sow seeds of discord and divisiveness among the American people. Take the punishment I WAS taught to fight back and defend myself in school if I was attacked but accept the punishment that would be doled out to me without complaint from me or my dad. No Clintons I USED to think Barack Obama was a smart person until I read he might make Hillary Clinton secretary of state. If he were really smart he wouldn't let the Clintons anywhere near his place of business. The world is in a bad enough shape without letting them in on the action. There is a reason they call them ex-presidents. Looking for a refund I DON'T know anything about this play that everyone is so upset about, but I am forced to pay every day to have someone else's values forced down my throat. I pay taxes to a government that refuses to treat me as a person. I do not have the same rights as other people just because of who I spend my life with. No rights or protections, that what my tax dollars pay for. Can I get a refund? Away from the right I WANT to thank Rush Limbaugh for helping Barack Obama become president. Limbaugh attacked John McCain and rallied the dittoheads against him during the primary season. This helped force McCain to shift his views to the right and pick a horribly unqualified running mate to appease the right wing of the GOP. Unfortunately for Limbaugh and McCain, this was a change election -- away from the right. I can only hope that Limbaugh continues his efforts to divide the moderate and right wings of his party. Feeling the pain THOSE WHO call themselves conservatives and defended George Bush for so long are jumping ship and calling for -- for what? If Bush wasn't a conservative, why did they defend him for so long? Had they had the courage to call out Bush on his big-government Republicanism not being in sync with conservatism, they might not now be in the mess they are. Poor GOP. I feel its pain. Unexpected record A SOUTHEAST Missourian editorial noted that the bailout of AIG is not what taxpayers expect. I would add that not much of anything George Bush did was what taxpayers expected, except, perhaps, the super-wealthy. Flexible guidance THE PERSON who says nowhere in the Constitution does it say the government can bail out a failing economy is not quite correct. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution says Congress has the power do anything "necessary or proper" and to provide for the "general welfare" of the United States. The Founders didn't know what was exactly going to challenge our country, so they made the Constitution flexible. Comments |

I think it's good to see some discussion on the theatrical performances at the River Campus. Provoking thought and stirring controversy is not always a bad thing - especially regarding religion. But I do think it's in better taste to offer performances of such a "controversial" nature as a separate package. The theater department must remember that while the River Campus is a bit removed from the main campus, it's still located in Cape Girardeau, Southeast Missouri. The patrons will ultimately determine its success - with their wallets.
good morning everyone
Take the punishment : what about your mom ? when did
mom's stop "doling out punishment" for poor judgement ?
happy birthday Mickey Mouse ...80 years old today
Humane treatment – well said.
Wholesome theatre – are you talking about a particular theatre, say a college art program, with college students, who express themselves like the young, impressionable, idealistic youth that they are. If you actually attend such presentations and are somehow disappointed, you may wish to make a decision to seek out your entertainment somewhere else.
Pay-raise plan – it seems like you assume pay raises are guaranteed, like an entitlement of some kind. Of course for someone to ascertain that they’ve somehow lost that money forever, they’d have to have that job forever, which might be construed somewhat more important than pricing them out of the job market. (See GM)
Tax bill goes up – you see, we want more and more. And we want our government to provide it for us. So they have to bring in more see, so you have to pay more. Now if you want government to do less, and spend less, then maybe they can collect less someday. Yeah, right.
Senior reality – God bless our seniors. Speak out good soul, fight for some semblance of quality of life.
Political mess – well saying it all doesn’t always mean saying it right. Close, but no cigar. Banks do not operate in a free-for-all society. In fact, most banks are still rock solid due to their continued due diligence. Deregulation did not produce the crisis. And the political class does bear responsibility for the current mess, but markets are not self regulating. Politicians blocked regulators attempts to properly regulate, bowing to the dollars of high powered lobbyists and pandering to their constituents. Tax payers, that is those who actually pay taxes, will now pay for the actions of politicians who abused their power by allowing the funneling of loan money to folks that cannot repay them, and don’t pay taxes, but do however vote. The politicians tactics paid off rather well now, didn’t it. Change?
A seed of discord – Mr. Limbaugh certainly knows the difference, and navigates the seas of open and honest discussion rather well. Rendering civil discourse a fatal blow? My Lord! What you are proposing is silencing those that disagree with you. I’m hoping that you are about to be greatly disappointed with Mr. Obama. He’s a pragmatist that will welcome the loyal opposition all the opportunity they are entitled to in voicing their opinions, as you have just been allowed to do. God bless America.
Away from the right – ditto.
Feeling the pain – thank you, I feel better already.
Regarding the 'Clintons', he is an ex-president because you can only serve 2 terms. Get educated.
dexterite
Clinton could run for pres again , no ?
morning all
rick
unless I am mistaken no he can't. I was thinking it was two terms in a life time
Humane treatment
I don't think that people who adopt pets are the ones who are dumping them in the boonies.
Wholesome theater
I'm still waiting for the XXX show...
Senior reality
Then quit playing so much BINGO!
Take the punishment
OK, that was random.
No Clintons
No ****. Hillary Clinton is the largest reason why New York has yet to decriminalize marijuana--Obama favors decriminalization albeit it is very low on his priority list [duh]. The entire state of Massachusetts decriminalized marijuana on November 4, 2008. Come on, Missouri; get with the times.
Looking for a refund
Just because you have a ding-**** and you like other ding-dongs does not entitle you to a refund.
semoangel
...ur proberly right ..i never was good at civics .
dunno as we need him back anyways...
Rick
don't feel bad I never was either but my daughter just finished Government class last year so had some refreshers. I wouldn't say we need him back as much as they need to do something somehow to help the economy and the entire nation not just the ones with the fat wallets
Hey Rick!
Cause for Cardinal Nation to 'celebrate' since there was no celebrating any penants this year. Albert Pujols is NL MVP! Way to go Albert! Oh yeah!!! (Sorry Cub fans :-)
Humane treatment: Agree.
Wholesome theater: All entertainment should be what you consider wholesome, it's a god thing.
Pay-raise plan: None of my business. But government should not be compared to a private organization. One does not have to compete.
Senior reality: I don't think that we deserve any more break than anyone else. If we are poor, we spent a lifetime making poor decisions.
Political mess: Banking works in an environment of mercantilism, they are in partnership with government.
Seeds of discord: Sow the seeds and reap what you sow.
Away from the right: The right was killed off by religious fanaticism.
Feeling the pain: Conservatism is dead. Both political parties are modern liberal.
Unexpected record: AIG and the state are in partnership, it is called mercantilism.
Flexible guidance: The Constitution no longer applies, we are ruled by men, not law.
Just think - if the Indians had given the Pilgrims a donkey instead of a turkey, we would all be having a ************ this Thanksgiving.
Just think - if the Indians had given the Pilgrims a donkey instead of a turkey, we would all be having a p i e c e o f a s s this Thanksgiving.
Jeebus, nice censorship. they're censoring donkey talk.
Hillco...
you posted.."The Constitution no longer applies, we are ruled by men, not law"
I guess one could argue we have always been ruled by men. After all, what is law but a system of rules designed by men used to enforce obedience.
It is necessary, yes, but men are in control, the authors, the enforcers.
John in Jackson,
Great Post. I am 28 today and began planning for my retirement when I was 21. I have no delusions that the gov't will have enough money to support me when I am 65/70. If I fail then so be it, i will be poor in my twilight.
Senior Help,
Not all seniors who are having financial problems are in this situation because of "poor planning". I have known many who worked hard all of their lives, put kids through school, saved and invested only to have serious illnesses or other unforeseen financial catastrophe.
If you are a "senior" and don't think you need or "deserve" help or don't pay enough in taxes I am sure any number of entities government and non-government would accept a nice check from you. Talk is cheap.
For the record, I am one of those seniors who do not need the help, but I do not want to see others who do denied out of some sense of self righteousness on the part of some.
Ok Theorist,
although I completely agree with Hilleco,
I will, without his permission restate things.
"The Constitution does not apply!,we are no longer
Governed by laws rather we are Governed by IGNORANCE,
Corporations,and the Military industrial Complex!
Lets abolish the Federal Government as we now know it,
and return power back to the people and States!
We would all be much better for it.
senior reality
Most seniors outlive any monies paid into the system by themselves. When SS was first established there were 6:1 workers per SS receipient. As the baby boomers entering the retired rolls and them living longer soon it will be 1:1 ratio. I just think we need to give a round of applause to the younger folks providing for SS retirement.
seeds of discord
Not to worry. Obama has the Fairness Doctrine on his list of things to bring back. After all, we wouldn't want those nasty conservatives to have an opposing ideology from liberals.
Red
True not all seniors are poor because of their choices. My grandfather worked everyday of his life well past retirement age but when my grandmother developed Parkinsons and had to go to a nursing home most of their savings were drained. Plnning is good but at the same time we have to remember tragedies happen.
Producer
Good for you. When I sarted working my mother got me in the habit of putting 10% of my check into savings and I am getting my daughter keyed into the same pattern. We may not be the riches right now but when it comes time to retire hopefully the money we have stuck back will let us be comfortable then as well. Not very many are thinking along those lines in their 20's though.
flexible guidence
Sigh...another fool not understanding the "general welfare" clause in the Constitution. It simply states that anything done must be to the benefit of all citizens, not just a select few. It has been trashed and abused. BTW...the Constitution is not a living document that can be flexed to meet your needs.
John in Jackson and Producer,
I can fully understand your feelings as I have children your age and I know they are getting the short end of the stick.
While I am technically a “senior”, I really don’t think of myself that way as I am not yet drawing SS and think of people in their seventies and eighties as “seniors”.
I think many are in financial problems because they did believe the government would “give” them a comfortable retirement and did not adequately plan, whereas I and those younger than I knew it would not. I worked well past my retirement eligibility to provide for income beyond SS. As I said previously, even some who planned well had problems due to unforeseen circumstances. I have tried to tell people that for the average person, there is no such thing as “enough” money when looking at a financial portfolio absent other set income.
Of course there is always the possibility that “seniors” are poor because of all of the money they spent raising their children, putting them through school and helping them get established so they could have good jobs, security and so on so their children could then feel somehow superior to them and laugh at how stupid they were not to think ahead.
Rick
No, Clinton cannot run for president again. But I think the origional poster was talking of Hill rather than Bill. She was co-president, you know. giggle
Wonder what those who are dissabled would do without
SS or SSI? Me thinks that if Social Security was handled correctly years ago it would be viable today and years to come.Instead the ignorant men raped it over the years and used the money for purposes other then was intended! As a person who has paid into this Social program since 1968 I for one EXPECT it back when I retire! Frankly Babe, its not just the young
who are paying into the system and they need not be applauded. If you want to see an uprising, let the lawmakers let this program fall apart and thats exactly what we will see.
Greywolf...
First, the Constitution does apply...Thankfully, we have elected a president who has studied and taught Constitution Law, and will truly understand what our forefathers laid in place.
Second, you posted..."we are no longer
Governed by laws rather we are Governed by IGNORANCE,
Corporations,and the Military industrial Complex!"
Though I know you feel this is true, I respectfully disagree. We are governed by laws, but sometimes we(people) treat those laws with apathy and indifference.
Whereas you wish to do away with government as it exists, I say, keep the government and insist it do what it is supposed to do. Fairly, without bias, prejudice or partiality uphold the laws.
Political mess: Unexpected record: There is a great article at http://www.thetowntalk.com/article/20081113/OPINION/811130302 by Robert Higgs of the Independent Institute "White House officials press banks to lend".
Find out why banks will not lend.
Remember when Republicans defended real money, money created as a medium of exchange between wealth creators? Now they defend injection of purely fiat money to compete with that real money. Or at least the Bush Administration supports that/the business welfare state.
Theorist
Interpretation of an item does not grasp what the item suggests. Just look at the Bible, Qaran (sorry about the spelling-in a hurry) some interpret with what they want it to read and pass the chopshop info on to the masses who take to leadership like lemmings over the cliff.
I, for one, have my pocket constitution (from Heritage.org) and study it when I hear those who say what they think that document SHOULD be saying. When it wasn't saying anything close to that at all.
Please comment away. I'll be back @ 1900ish.
Greywolf
Laws extend to the Federal Gov. When the law doesn't apply to them, it gets passed down to the state. When it doesn't apply there, township...so on and so on.
WE are the ones who are giving the Fed this fake power.
WE THE PEOPLE does hold water, but when your slave masters keep giving you free stuff (which is YOURS anyway) you tend to be lathargic to what should be your right in the first place.
The Fed should be answering to us.
Theorist,
you said,"Thankfully, we have elected a president who has studied and taught Constitution Law, and will truly understand what our forefathers laid in place.
This President YOU helped elect couldn't find his way out of a clear plastic bag much less FIX whats wrong with the Government! Frankly Theorist,I will not be drinking Obama's Koolaid but you go right ahead!
Another great article from Robert Higgs can be found at http://www.independent.org/blog/?p=486 "Stabilize This, Stabilize That".
GREYWOLF is right, we have no further use for the mob calling itself the Federal Government. Its contract, The Constitution, has been so abused that it serves no purpose. The Federal Government serves no other purpose than transfers of wealth from those who produce to those that don't produce.
greywolf,
Government is the only entity that can profit off of being broken. There is no motivation to fix it.
I was hoping beyond hope after the election, it would be unlawful to 'giggle'................
BABE
...u may be on to something there with Hill being
co-president ...it never crossed my alleged mind...
Obama has announced that he will appoint a Republican to his cabinet.
SLIMEBALL..LIBERMAN
The Democrats, have done it again. That worthless piece of crap, or, more explicitly, that worthless POS, Joe Liberman has been allowed to retain his position as the Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
First of all, Joe Liberman is a POS Zionist. He is in full support of the killing of the people of Iraq, and Afghanistan, two people who NEVER did a damn thing to Americans. He is a war monger, and a stooge for Israel, and thier war mongering party, the Likud.
The Democrats are spineless, wimps, and not worthy to lead, if this is what they think that leadership is.
Liberman is a scumbag, and did I mention that he is a worthless POS? He is dangerous. He is totally New World Order.
I cannot convey my anger, disgust and outrage, in words that would be acceptable to the Semissourian, nor, the NSA.
babe,
Any speculation as to who it may be or what position. I am surprised Colin Powell's name has not surfaced.
Greywolf...
Where is your respect? Why do you condemn someone before they have even have a chance to show you what they can do? Be wary if you must, but "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything", for you have no reason to fuss!
Stop being such a pessimist, try following Babe's lead and giggle....
POO ON ALL OF YOU..... I, yes, I HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO HELP MOVE MONEY FROM IRAQ TO THE US, and I WILL SOON BE RICH!!!!!!
Wow, years ago, when I was singled out to help the family of a Colonel in Nigeria to get money out of that country, I was delighted, and quite proud that I, of all the people in the entire world, had come to the attention of those nice folks in Nigeria to help them. Obvious, my reputation for honesty, and integrety had been spead mroe worldwide than I had ever imagined.
NOW... it seems that, once again, I have been selected. This time, I am to help an Iraqi translator get his share of $6 Million dollars out of Iraq and into the US so that he might invest here. I feel that I must do my part to help this courageous young man who has risked his life to help our troops.
Any suggestions?
"Hello
I got your contact and would like to share a very important matter with you. If it does not interest you, I apologize for the inconvenience . I am Mr Mansoor, I am an average-aged man of 43 years of age, a Persian of Iranian origin; I work in Iraq with the U.S. military as a translator. I have evidence to show after you.
In one of our military operations in Iraq, we have found a safe in a large house of a great businessman in the Iraqi city of Tikrit. The safe contained a large sum of money, U.S. dollars, ie U.S. $ 24 Million. We immediately have kept this safe in a safe place with three other American soldiers. After long deliberations between us whether we should put these funds to American authorities in charge ded place or not, we all decided to share these funds between us. For sharing, each of us has received the sum of U.S. $ 6 million.
For my part because of security problems in Iraq, I decided to arrange with private security guards in Iraq to transfer my share of these funds outside Iraq, specifically in London.
I put the money in a package as family and I have coded which means that nobody knows that the package contains money except me.
What I tell you is the truth and if we treat all in this case, you will see. So I contact to see if you can help me get the package from London and transfer it to your country or I would invest the funds in profitable areas.
I give you some percentage of these funds for me to accept, the percentage we will discuss when I receive your reply.
Iraqi insurgents are against me so they are looking for me to kill me because I do translations for the Americans military. I do not go out any way without the U.S. military to avoid the worst. I do not use phones either not receiving calls here. I use only the Internet and walkie-talkies to communicate with soldiers with whom I work.
If this transaction is concluded, I resign from this work because to live here in Iraq is too risky.
I thank you and I am expecting your reply. (man.abdo@live.fr)
Mr Mansoor "
I remember seeing an ABC news segment where a DOCTOR in the US, was duped into a version of the Nigerian scam. That is when I realized that Doctors, and those who hold advanced degrees are not as smart as they would like us to believe that they are.
Colon Powell would be a good candidate for sure....
Improperly managed SSI where many collected who never payed in is one problem , plus career politicians who are not under the same retirement system (so they have no real vested interest in the system).
Did Thomas Jefferson say that an armed revolution was good for a country once every 20 years ? I'm probably mistaken.
To censor is to hamstring theater, making it impossible to use its full range of motion to influence our thoughts and change the way we see the world.
Sometimes the only way it can is to shock us. It makes us say, "Wow, that's my life they're talking about."
I've seen numerous complaints in Speak Out about how certain shows should not be allowed. Well, ticket holders, here's my advice: if you're not sure about a show, research the show and find out if it's too "adult" for you.
Jim Webb...
I would like to see former Secretary of the Navy, and Vietnam Veteran, Virgina US Senator, Jim Webb-D, as Secretary of War.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Webb
Theorist,
Excuse me young lady! Do NOT lecture me on respect!
I earned my right to speak out against my Government!
What have you earned? Only that you helped elect a NOBODY with NO proven record to accomplish anything.
As I said before,This elected President will not fix a damn thing because he does not have the power or better yet the experience to accomplish what needs to be done!Yes Theorist, use your clutch before you put your mouth in gear and do not expect me to jump on any of your band wagons! Respect is something you earn young lady and Obama has yet to earn any respect from me.Frankly I doubt he ever will! By the way do not tell me to be quite as I have been very quite lately which is much more than can be said about you.Your buddy Obama is like the old "pet rock" it just sat there, did nothing and went away in a few years.
By the way Theorist,I never wanted to give this clown a chance what makes you think I would now?
You just like millions of other U.S. Citizens enjoy allowing wool to be pulled over your eyes.
Greywolf...I liked it better when you were quite quiet.
THOMAS JEFFERSON.... THE BLOOD OF TYRANTS
rockman54, you have it right, as did Jefferson. Even now, some think that this nation is long overdue for a good ole fashion cleansing. You see the greed around you, most notably at the national level as with the greed, avarice and manipulation in the oil futures, and the Great Wall Street Banking Scam of 2008.
Personally, I feel that we are looking at a cleansing much along the line of the French Revolution. Americans are slow to rile, but when they reach the point of no return, this time, I believe that it will be very bloody and that those who have instigated the greed, and those who have most profited by the greed will be the targets of their vengence. When it errupts, as it surely will, for those who are profiting by greed, know not when to stop, they will become the targets of revenge at all levels, in all geographical regions of our country.
Just my opinion.
Here is your famous Thomas Jefferson Quote...
""God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."
THOMAS JEFFERSON
(1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President

Note that Jefferson said that Patriots and TYRANTS blood must be spilled. As George Patton once said.
"No bast-*rd ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bast-*rd die for his country."
On being fearful of the coming true Civil War, I leave you with other General Patton quotes.
"All men are timid on entering any fight. Whether it is the first or the last fight, all of us are timid. Cowards are those who let their timidity get the better of their manhood."
There is only one tactical principle which is not subject to change. It is to use the means at hand to inflict the maximum amount of wound, death, and destruction on the enemy in the minimum amount of time."
- General George Patton Jr
Now, that is inspiring. Thank you, George.
"May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't."
Lady???? laughing.....
Respect is shown as a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. It is a human right much like dignity.
When you take someones respect or dignity without cause you are nothing but a bitter person (pretty much without dignity).
Respect is NOT a human right that I must give just because. Respect must be earned in my opinion
The question isn't as Just posted, "So why should we believe that BO and the Dem controlled Congress will do anything other than lead us down the road of their continued failure?

Rather Why so down? Did you back the wrong horse? Are you so competitive that you constantly seek the failure of someone else to bring yourself up?
Won't Work!
Obama's Choice of White House Counsel is Very Interesting....
I believe that President Obama is an instrument of the New World Order.... sort of the Cape Girardeau Good Ole Boys Network, only on a National, nay, Global level.
Clinton was their instrument, as was both Bush presidents.
I have long stated that it is my firm belief that George H.W. Bush was involved in the assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan. It was, John Hinckley, jr, the SON of George H.W. Bush's Texas friend, John Hinckley, Sr, a contributor, leader of Bush's 1980 Primary campaign in Texas, and fellow oil exec, president of Vanderbilt Energy. In the 1960's, when Hinckley's company, Vanderbuilt Energy began to fail, it was his Houston neighbor, George H. W. Bush who bailed out Hinckley.
How odd is it, that John Hinckley's brother, Scott, was to be the dinner guest of George H.W. Bush's son, Neil Bush in Denver, the night of the assassination attempt upon Reagan?
yep... a very interesting piece of history, and, now, we learn that one of the would be assassin's attornies, Gregory Craig is going to be President-elect Obama's White House Counsel. All favors to the New World Order are eventually rewarded... or, so it seems.
I have always wondered why the Ronald Reagan who first ran against the Council on Foreign Relations, seemed to bring so many CFR members into his government soon after he was shot. I know firmly believe that George H.W. Bush was part of the conspriacy to kill Ronald Reagan. Why would the woman who shot and MISSED Gerald Ford get THRITY YEARS for her attempt, when the man who shot and seriously wounded Ronald Reagan, and brain damaged his Press Secretary, Jim Baker, get a modest slap on the wrist and unsupervised out of mental hospital visits? Doesn't make any sense, never did, and that it why I believe that much of what happened during Ronald Reagan's two terms, did not seem very Reaganish.... it was George H. W. Bush pulling the strings and Reagan was a puppet.
"FAMILY 'DESTROYED' BY ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT "
By JOHN MOSSMAN, Associated Press Writer, the Associated Press, April 1, 1981, PM Cycle
EVERGREEN, Colo. The parents of John W. Hinckley, Jr., "just destroyed" by their son's alleged assassination attempt on President Reagan, hope to see him "as soon as possible" but have no definite travel plans, their attorney said. The Hinckleys, through attorney James Robinson, issued a brief statement Tuesday expressing their "deep concern" for President Reagan and all those involved in Monday's shooting, including their son, John. Robinson said the Hinckleys had spoken to their son Monday night and Tuesday afternoon and were trying to hire a Washington lawyer for him. It was confirmed later in Washington that the Hinckleys had retained the law firm of millionaire defense attorney Edward Bennett Williams.
The Hinckleys said they planned to see their son "as soon as possible, but at this time they have no definite travel plans worked out," Robinson said. They sent "personal expressions of sorrow" to the wounded men and their families, he said. The Hinckleys reiterated through Robinson that they have provided psychiatric care for their son in the past, adding that "recent evaluations alerted no one to the seriousness of his condition."
William Sells, the Hinckleys' next door neighbor and in whose home the Hinckleys were staying Tuesday, said the couple was "just destroyed" by their son's arrest and the attempt made on Reagan's life.
In Washington, an aide to Vice President George Bush disputed a Houston Post report that the Hinckleys made large contributions to Bush's presidential campaign. The aide, Shirley Green, said no record of such a contribution could be found.
The Houston newspaper also reported that Scott Hinckley was to have dined Tuesday night in Denver at the home of Neil Bush, on of the vice president's sons. Neil Bush's wife Sharon said Scott Hinckley was coming to their house as the date of one of her girlfriends. "I don't even know the brother," she said. "I understand he was just the renegade brother in the family. They must feel awful."
The FBI investigated a bomb threat directed against the Hinckleys on Tuesday, but nothing came of it.
The senior Hinckley is described by associates as a devout Christian who belonged to a weekly Bible reading club and recently did work in Africa for a Christian service organization.
John Hinckley and his wife stayed at their next-door neighbor's house all day Tuesday as 70 reporters assembled on the front lawn and gawkers drove slowly past.
A statement for counsel for Vanderbilt Energy Corp. said the elder Hickley had "temporarily relinquished his duties" as chairman for the Denver-based firm "because of a tragedy involving a member of his family." John Hinckley, Jr., 25, who was arrested seconds after Reagan was shot in Washington, was being held Tuesday at a Marine base in Quantico, Va. The corporate statement did not mention any change for Scott Hinckley, vice president of operations for Vanderbilt and brother of John, Jr.
The father's move came amid confirmation that the Department of Energy was reviewing Vanderbilt's books. Jack Vandenberg, a DOE spokesman in Washington, said auditors met with Scott Hinckley in Denver on Monday. The Washington Star quoted an unnamed "White House official" as confirming that DOE auditors asked for an explanation of an overcharge when oil price controls were in effect between 1973 and 1981. The Star said DOE auditors told Scott Hinckley there was a possible penalty of $2 million for the overcharge.

I am interesting....Thanks for the compliment!
Really Goodbody, does EVERYTHING have to be a conspiracy. Doesn't anyone act on their own behalf anymore?
Leaders who win the respect of others are the ones who deliver more than they promise, not the ones who promise more than they can deliver.

GREYWOLF and shortwhitebaldguy: I don't think there will ever be a need for a revolution, or one that involves blood letting. I think that the government is on a road toward self destruction. This is a path chosen by the supporters and voters of the Republicrats. Politicians cannot change this course, they have been hamstrung by their own supporters.
Theorist,
Your idea of earning respect and mine differ.
As for your "lady ???" remark, I honestly thought
and have thought you were a female.I am sorry if
I offended you in that way. However,I never use the word "giggle"! Most men I know, NO all the men I know, do not use that word.I meant no disrespect toward you
and I can agree to disagree with anyone in this media.
Hawker,
Frankly what you like and I like also may differ!
Since you are the self appointed spelling policeman,
I promice too tri too spel beter nxt tyme, ohkay!
GREYWOLF: The Bush Administration and Congress have been strongly pushing our economic system toward socialism. The West propped up the USSR for 70 years while they tried socialism. I wonder who will prop up the US economy now that the Republicrats have demanded socialism. No, I don't expect Obama to change this direction.
The producers in this country can be counted on only for so long to keep this government afloat with their tax money, after that the government will fail same as the Soviet model.
Certainly someone didn't put MediaMatters.com on here as a source of information? The same sight funded by Hillary Clinton and George Soros?
Might as well have put something equally outgrageous in their bias, like bartcop.com or msnbc.com...
Hilleco,
how right you are! The Demopublicans have been pushing
this Socialistic crap on us since the early part of the last Century! The two party system has failed us all.Why so many can't see that is beyond me.They are
one in the same.I have said this all along. Is it too late to bring things under control?I think so. Can Obama fix things? Not on your life! Sooner then later, we will all see the outcome of the mistakes we have made the last 80 years or so!..I must be careful however.Theorist will say my cup is 1/2 empty!
GREYWOLF: I think that those who call themselves Republican and those who call themselves Democrat will argue nonsense and not pay attention that the ship is sinking. They will continue to blame each other when both are to blame with their calls for an increase in the size and scope of government. The problem is, there is simply too much government with too much control over the economy. This socialism will not work.

The confirmation hearings should be hilarious. giggle
Due to a 24% drop in profit, Target is now slashing prices to be competitive with Wal Mart. Maybe if the corporation would allow the Salvation Army bell ringers back in front of their store they would pray for them. giggle
HILLECO,
Very Marxian of you in your thoughts of a bloodless revolution and the implosion of our government.
Opinion dude,
Citing anything with Alan Keyes as reputable has huge question marks behind it. Your paranoia is ranking up with Goodbody.
Allow me to chime in on RESPECT. Respect is a funny word. It does not mean AGREE. It does not mean LIKE. Opinion Dude and I may disagree at times but do so respectfully (above jab in good jest). I do not see greywolf as being disrespectful but merely impassioned with his own beliefs.

shortwhitebaldguy: No doubt, Marx and I would be opposite ends of a scale. But I do believe that this government is growing in the direction of socialism and will eventually collapse. It is consuming more than 80% of the world's savings with its debt. That means that there is less savings to develop new industry or expand old. Right now, it is bailing out banking with fiat money to replace real money, which is savings. This will reduce the standard of living for most Americans, which in return, will demand a more fiscal responsible government. The government is not capable of being responsible.
What are banks doing with this injection of fiat money? They are either investing it into government debt or increasing interest bearing reserve deposits. Eventually this fiat money will enter the economy competing with real money. That will drive the price of goods and services through the roof and the banks know it.
The government will paint itself into a corner while it citizens demand even more from it. It will collapse.
Humane treatment : ..no , don't drop those animals
off out in the wilds..we can feed a lot of hungry people
with those animals , a good sized dog

Willy Makit: Nor can nations or people spend themselves rich. Consuming beyond their means will end in poverty.
WillyMakit,
I found your 1811 post very interesting. I had seen parts of it before, but not the whole thing.
Does anyone have a reliable source for what comes after a "trillion"? I can handle millions, billions and, reluctantly, I am getting accustomed to the concept of trillions. Is it "zillions"? Or "bigmoneyillions"? Whatever it is, I suppose it's time to become accustomed to the term.

Willy,
Great posts! It's funny: I ask people who voted for Obama why they did and I have yet to receive an answer. Like I've said before, politics is nothing but brainwashing bull**** and this past election proves that point. I don't have the time to search for it now, but Howard Stern had a segment where a field reporter asked people various questions about the election--including asking if Sarah Palin was a good running mate for Obama--and the admittingly short segment had two people respond in the affirmative. It seems to me that most people who voted for Obama just jumped on the bandwagon. Furthermore, as I stated this morning, Hillary Clinton is, almost certainly, to be included in Obama's cabinet although they have "fundamental differences." I work for the government and let me tell you it is a joke--no doubt about it.
Do I think that John McCain was a good contender? Not at all but at least he will allow firearm priveleges for responsible citizens and he doesn't want to spend my money on people that I do not know and that I do not care about. [I bought a subcompact automatic pistol days before the election, courtesy of Obama's views.]
Willey Penny: It would be quadrillion.
Wiley Penner: Sorry that I got your name wrong earlier. A one time estimate put derivatives at perhaps over a quadrillion or a thousand trillion.
