Christian Women's group gathers for monthly luncheon

SIKESTON- The Christian Women's Luncheon group of Sikeston and the surrounding area gathered Monday, November 3rd at La Villetta Restaurant, Sikeston for lunch, fellowship, and an encouraging word given by Ava Huffstutler.

Ava, a former librarian, opened her testimony in the reading of a poem which was the beginning of her message; God's love, absolute knowledge and forgiveness. She said "We can quickly leave 'the upper room' and fail the Lord as the disciples did". However, Ava remarked, "God was not caught by surprise neither by what they did nor by what we do. While God has a perfect plan for each of us, if we miss the mark, and we all do, Jesus has a wonderful way of restoring us again. The key to this restoration is in His forgiveness to all who ask". Ava's observation was that man's problem to restoration is in not forgiving himself for his guilt and failure. Ava concluded by saying "If a holy God can forgive us, then who are we to not forgive ourselves?

Ursula Lane captivated the audience singing praise choruses Gina Crowley gave an update on the Guardian Angel Shelter. A report on tentative plans to celebrate "The Stars", Neal Boyd and Blake DeWitt was given also.

The next CWL meeting will be held Monday, December 1 at the Russell Home on Highway H in Blodgett. Following a Christmas lunch, Brenda Bryant will sing a medley of Christmas songs. Tours of this beautifully decorated home will conclude the Christian Women's Luncheons for the 2008 season.
