Cape Girardeau police respond to call of gunfireWednesday, November 5, 2008Southeast Missourian For the third night in a row, Cape Girardeau police received a call of gunfire near the 400 block of Hanover Street. Around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the area of Bloomfield and Hanover Street to a report of shots fired. Gunfire was reported in the area on Monday night, and a shooting on Sunday in the 400 block of Hanover street left one injured. this used to be a pretty safe place to live. what happend? i guess parents just don't know how to raise their kids anymore.
Perhaps the citizens of Cape need to band together and load up their guns and go clean up this area.I could hear the shots fired from my home 10 blocks away.This
is happening almost every night.The Wolf thinks all the available police officers should do nothing but stay in this area until these low lifes are caught and put in jail. If they resist fire a warning shot right between their eyes!This activity HAS TO STOP and right away.I suggest the police stop what they are normally
doing and spend ALL their efforts on this issue.Its only a matter of time before a child is killed or injured or a stray bullet kills someone 1/2 a mile away!
People have taken the phrase "it takes a whole village to raise a child" too literally. I mean parents, government, and schools alike have adapted this and the confused children seek the love and approval of their peers instead. The more extreme the action is, the more praise and notoriety they receive in their subcultured "family".
MR. Obama would be ashamed.
Was there an article recently about a lady who shot an intruder coming in to her home after raping her? Apparently this happened Friday or Saturday? I read it in the St. Louis papers, but didn't recall seeing it in the local paper. Just curious.

I have lived in Cape my whole life and have family members and friends in every area of Cape. I have watched that area slowly sink. Cops are turning their heads from that side of town because it is too much to deal with. I have been told you shouldn't even drive near that area for years and the sad thing is there are good people stuck in the middle of gang and drug wars who are not being protected. We need police thick in these areas instead of on Kingshighway.

I turned on the TV at 06:30 this morning and was treated to the media interviewing black leaders. Their response was solely victory for the blacks. It wasn't about what this particular man could do for this country or even what a black man could do for this country. The response had nothing to do with the individual that was elected and everything to do with the color of his skin. And besides, I was stereotyping - not being racist.
I truthfully don't care that the man is black but, I truthfully DO fear he has an agenda not related to the betterment of this country.
For the sake of our homeland, I hope to be proven wrong.

I apologize for the rude comments from some. Know that most people black, white or purple hope for the safety of us all in Cape and every other town. I do pray for less thugs (of any color), drugs and trash. The gangster lifestyle is an epidemic in this country and all you have to do is pull up at a high school and watch the kids and the parents! However, Cape is a great town and I firmly believe that if you don't respect where you're living you should make every attempt to move. A few bloggers don't represent the thoughts of Cape Girardeau. I PRAY FOR SAFETY and I hope you choose to not be affected by the rude.
I have never seen so many racist people in my life . Just like I said in my last entry . Everytime something happens on the south side what do you get ? People making it some way into a black thing. The main ones who are sitting there saying '' Oh im not racist '' are the main ones doing it . The comment about ''cappin '' and a ''brutha'' YOU are an idiot if you think people dont see just what the hell you are trying to imply. What the hell does Obama have to do with the story? Nothing . Just another black issue that you can have a field day with . Last time I checked there were white people and mexicans that lived in that area . But you just automatically assume that since shots were fired they had to come from the '' blacks '' in the neighborhood . Some of you need to get a life and a clue . By the way...Since you brought it up ....All of you who were /are against Obama ..You should have been against Bush . The economy wouldnt be in the crisis it is now . The main ones who were sack riding Bush are the main ones complaining that gas is too high, your about to loose your home , you cant afford health insurance . You dont know what Obama is going to do , but I guarantee you it will be A HELL OF A LOT MORE THAN WHAT BUSH DID !!!!!! BY the way I sat and watched the TV all night long . Someone said that the only victory that everyone was talking about was the color of skin Obama has and that is NOT true . Of course AA are going to be HAPPY that for the first time in history we have an AA president .Just like if the world was mostly black and we had elected a first time ever white president . But that is just wishful thinking. I heard lots of people black and white talk about the changes that they hoped Obama would make . So I dont know what channel you were watching....But we sure as hell were not watching the same channel .
As for the comments about parents not knowing how to raise their children .....I didnt want to have to go here ...BUT as usual...I read something else stupid that some one chose to say . I do watch crime tv, court tv ..etc . A majority of the psychos that they have profiled actually came from decent home environments . I was not the perfect child , but I know my mom and dad raised me right . I have made alot of poor choices growing up AS WE ALL HAVE .So does that mean that your parents did not know how to raise you ? If a person has it set in his/her mind that they are going to do something ...then Ok they are going to do it . Has nothing to do with how their mother and father raised them . Half of you smoked weed in the 60's -70's . Does that mean your parents raised you wrong ? Catch a clue and stay with it .

Cocoa I agree with you. Graywolf is an idiot for posting such crap like that. Good job in pointing out what I`ve been trying to point out. How does he know that this was a black man. Nobody knows what race this person is. Their are other races that do live in this neighborhood. He obviously dosen`t know what he is talking about. There are crimes that happen all over the city. But I guess he dosen't pay any attention to that. Remember the problems with Copa. (on the northside) the bank robber, he is white. I didn`t here anything about that from him. North of Lexington where my dad lives their have been numerous reports of thefts in that neighborhood. Yes there have been shootings in other areas of the city in the past two years. Most of them have been on the north side of town. When I lived on north sprigg, by the university there were shootings at that rhodes gas station. I`m white and I take great offence to idiotic remarks that Gray has said along with others. he needs to get the facts right. he probably thinks that drugs are only on the southside too. But he`s wrong. Point being these are not problems by just one race, They are problems by all PEOPLE. He needs to get that in his head. Keep on preaching the truth.
