Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will headline a Republican rally Thursday morning at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.

Doors will open at 6:30 a.m. for the event featuring the GOP's vice presidential nominee, with the program starting at 8:30 a.m. "Governor Palin will discuss John McCain's plans to put an end to this economic crisis, create jobs that support the American dream and keep our nation secure by putting country first," the Missouri Republican Party said in a news release announcing the event.

The visit is the first to Southeast Missouri by one of the major party candidates since the national conventions in August. U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, visited Cape Girardeau in May before securing the nomination.

Free tickets are available at four Republican headquarters locations around the area from 3 to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday until all the tickets are distributed. The location for obtaining tickets are:

* Cape Girardeau County Republican Headquarters, 601 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau.

* Butler County Republican Headquarters, 1901A Greenwood Drive, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

* Scott County Republican Headquarters, 900 S. Main St., Sikeston, Mo.

* St. Francois County Republican Headquarters, 301 N. Washington, Farmington, Mo.

The picture makes it appear that she is yawning. That is exactly how she makes me feel.

How could anyone go listen to such a squeaky whiney voice like hers? And, if anyone thinks she is capable of being the next President - OMG!!!!!

Soccer,

I could say the same thing about Obama!

Do you really want hime as Commander and Chief

of our military? The world is a very dangerous

place these days.As much as I dislike Mcain he

is the best person to handle the job!

Other "local" websites have that tickets can be picked up today at 3 instead of tuesday. Which is correct??

-- Posted by ThisisRCIR on Mon, Oct 27, 2008, at 1:54 PM

Also, Gov. Palin is in between words not yawning. Nice try though....

I'd rather have Obama than McCain or (scary thought) Palin in charge of the military...come to think of it, both McCain and Palin scare me.

Greywolf,

It's people like you that are going to get us in trouble. So, you don't like McCain, but do you honestly think that Sarah Palin could run this country with her minimal experience?

People that like McCain, really need to listen to Palin to what she DOESN'T have to say. What a lame excuse for a VP.

Is the admission $250 and $2500 for photo with candidate for Vice President? Oh yeah, that was for a event with Vice President Cheney and Peter Kinder. The fact that the Southeast Missourian failed to report on the results of and event in honor of one of their former Publishers makes one wonder if WHO is attempting to manipulate the press.

I'll be at the door selling Palin's script for the rally.

It's amazing when the Dems. have someone come, they just use a small building on Broadway, but for Sarah Palin,it will take the show me center to hold all of them.Way to go,Sarah.Give them the low down on Obama!!!

Just think,Obama came to visit Thorngate, and they closed. How ironic is that???

Everyone knows this is Republican territory so it's no surprise there here campaigning where they know they will get a good turn out. Obama had 110,000 people show up in Saint Louis 2 weeks ago then turn around and had the same number of people show up in Kansas City over the weekend. The McLame and Palin tour is just spinning their wheels.

I've noticed this tactic in many discussions on the web - Obama supporters declaring that McCain supporters "simply do not understand what Socialism is". How weak is that? Remove the focus of the discussion from what Obama or Biden said, instead attack the person they said it to, like Joe the plumber and the reporter West in Florida. I laugh every time I see it - I imagine Obi Wan Kenobi waving his hand and saying "These aren't the droids you're looking for."
