TROY, Mo. -- More than two dozen people face drug charges after a massive sweep in eastern Missouri, authorities said Thursday.
Eighteen suspects were rounded up Wednesday, and authorities were searching for 10 more, Troy Police Chief Jeff Taylor said. All of the crimes allegedly occurred in Lincoln County, and most of the suspects live there. A few are from nearby Warren and St. Charles counties.
The arrests culminated a nine-month investigation by Troy police and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. Lincoln County is about 50 miles north of St. Louis.
Investigators say they shut down several small drug operations.
Most of the arrests were for drug possession or distribution, but nine suspects face the more serious felony charge of selling drugs near a school.
