Letter to the Editor

It's time for change

To the editor:

I have voted Republican in every election in the past 25 years. But with government spending up 27 percent in three years, exploding public debt (with the 2004 deficit expected to exceed $450 billion, twice as high as the previous record deficit), illogical tax cuts during a time of crisis that mostly benefit the very wealthy, a hemorrhage of manufacturing jobs leaving for overseas, American troops dying on a daily basis, Iraqis dying by the thousands, a trillion-dollar war in Iraq with no justification, the world value of the U.S. dollar at record lows, anti-American sentiment the highest ever recorded and lie after lie coming from the White House, it is time for a change.

I will admit that George Bush appears to be a stronger leader that John Kerry. However, Bush is leading this nation in the wrong direction.

If you think I am wrong, please clip this letter and look at it again in about 20 years when your Social Security and Medicare benefits are gone, taxes are much higher on the middle class to pay for these huge deficits that Bush has run up, and terrorism is rampant because of revenge killings against us and our pre-emptive wars.

It is time for a change.

We need an intelligent, strategic thinking president who involves Congress. Bush is easily the worst president in my life.
