Who's nextFriday, October 3, 2008HONORS * Jessica Livingston of Whitewater, Marcus Painton of Oran, Mo., and Haley Bohnert and Matt Taylor of Cape Girardeau have been appointed as Presidential Ambassadors to Southeast Missouri State University. The ambassadors assist the university president in greeting guests and serving at presidential functions. SCHOLARSHIPS * Kathryn Renfrow of Cape Girardeau received the Emma Jean Ballew Scholar Award from the University of Missouri's College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the current school year. * Kimberly Miesner of Frohna, Mo., received the Elyzabeth Schell Scholarship from the University of Missouri's College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the current school year. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES * Missouri college-bound high school seniors interested in criminal justice can apply for the John Dennis Scholarship, a $1,000 award. Call the Missouri Sheriffs' Association and Training Academy at 573-635-5925, extension 10, or e-mail karen@mosheriffs.com for an application. * Aspiring journalists who are currently high school seniors can apply for the Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Conference Program. A male and female student from each state will receive a $1,000 scholarship and be invited to a conference March 14 through 19, 2009 in Washington, D.C. The deadline is Oct. 15.
