Two-vehicle accident in Scott County sends two to Cape Girardeau hospital

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. - A Bell City, Mo., female and a Benton, Mo., male were injured Tuesday in a two-car accident at the intersection of Highway 77 and County Road 403, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol crash reports Web site.

The accident occurred 1 mile east of Interstate 55 at around 2:05 p.m. as the 2005 Cadillac driven by Katharyn A. Strobel, 70, of Bell City attempted to pass a 1995 Dodge driven by Lawrence W. Ervin, 66, of Benton, as he was making a left turn. Strobel struck Ervin's vehicle, causing the Dodge to run off the left side of the roadway and overturn.

Both vehicles were totaled. The drivers were taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where Strobel was treated for minor injuries and Ervin for moderate injuries.
