Art teacher receives recognition from online museum

Susan Lane, art teacher at Orchard Drive Elementary School in Jackson, has been recognized by Artsonia, an online children's art museum, for her leadership in arts education. The school's online art gallery, www.artsonia.com/schools/orchard8, ranks No. 2 in Missouri and No. 12 in the nation by Artsonia. Lane was presented a leadership award for encouraging family and community involvement in arts education. The award also recognizes significant achievement in the area of technology integration within the school arts program. During the 2007-2008 school year, Orchard Drive Elementary School gallery showcased 7,515 pieces of artwork, was visited more than 71,122 times and received 3,832 comments. Keepsakes with children's' artwork can be purchased online. Artsonia donates 15 percent of its annual product revenue back to school art programs.
