Central dumps Tilghman

Zach Zaruba found the back of the net twice to help lead the Central boys soccer team to a 7-4 victory over Paducah Tilghman on Saturday.

Central improved to 8-2 and returns to action Tuesday against Jackson.

Carbondale shootout

Saxony Lutheran won a pair of games, defeating host Carbondale 2-1 then downing Sikeston 4-2.

Brent Rodewald and Andrew Etzold each scored against Carbondale.

Garret Fritsche finished with a hat trick as the Crusaders improved to 7-2 with the win over Sikeston.

VOLLEYBALL Perryville tournament

Perryville beat Fredericktown in two games, 25-18, 25-18, to win the third-place match.

Bismarck won the tournament title.

Perryville placed three players on the all-tournament team — Shea Leible, Ava Johnson and Megan Moldenheuer. St. Vincent's Courtney Besand and Chelsea Boxdorfer and Central's Wendi Zickfield also earned the honor.

Saxony Lutheran went 1-2-1. Holly Schermann had seven kills against Sikeston and three against Perryville for the Crusaders. Brooke Kasten recorded 19 assists against Fredericktown.

BOYS SWIMMING CoMo Invitational

Central finished 12th at the 17-team event in Columbia, Mo.

Caleb Coots led the Tigers with a sixth-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 9.14 seconds) and a sixth in the 500 freestyle (5:00.74).

Sam Gramling was seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:52.90) and ninth in the 500 freestyle (5:05.61).

Kickapoo won the meet with 301 points. Central had 171.
