A great fair

In a modern world filled with all sorts of high-tech distractions, it's good to see that something like the SEMO District Fair -- even after 153 years -- can still draw good crowds.

One of the biggest factors affecting fair attendance, of course, is the weather. For years, fairgoers have expected as least one good storm to move through the area during the fair. It's almost a tradition. But this year's fair weather was dry and comfortable.

Most of all the SEMO District Fair continues to strive to be wholesome family entertainment, and this year's fair succeeded. From all the judging events to the grandstand performances to the midway to the food booths to all the special displays, the fair once again showcased why Southeast Missouri is such a great place to live and visit.
