Blue Angel 7 visits the Cape Airport

Cape's airport has again hosted a visit by a VERY cool flying machine! Angel 7 is a Boeing F/A-18 Hornet, flown by the Navy's immortal Blue Angels Flight Demonstration team. It's a two-seat rendition of the carrier-based, supersonic fighter/attack aircraft, and is used by the Angels to provide rides to members of the media and other FORTUNATE individuals.

The Hornet took on some 1100 gallons of our fine Jet A fuel, and provided a dramatic departure from the ordinary as Linemen Rory Rubel and Mark Perry took good care of the blue and gold beast!

The Angels were taking 7 to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, preparing for their role in an Air Show there.

I'm told that their visit yesterday, September 10, 2008, was the anniversary of their Air-Show appearance at Cape, 25 years ago. Back then, the Angels were flying A-4 Skyhawks...the same type of aircraft as the one parked at out airport's entrance.

I missed out on the fun, but Lineman Mark Perry got some great photos, and has allowed me to pass them on, along with the details of their trip, which were gathered by Line Chief Derrick Irwin.
