Neo-Nazi group: We don't need permit to picket in ColumbiaFriday, September 5, 2008COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Even though they were denied parade and special event permits, a neo-Nazi group plans to assemble in Columbia on the same day as the Missouri-Kansas State game. The National Socialist Movement says it doesn't need a permit to gather, and may do just that on Nov. 8. Police denied the group's application, saying that there wouldn't be enough officers to cover the game and the event, as well as provide usual protections in the city. NSM Commander Jeff Schoep said "We may just show up and walk and picket." Schoep said protesters would gather on sidewalks but would not disrupt the flow of traffic. In place of a rally, some of the organizers plan to distribute flyers at the football game. Police said they'll enforce "all applicable laws" to keep order.
