Speak Out 8/26/08Tuesday, August 26, 2008Casino not good I want to comment on the "big casino" some in Cape are wanting to put in downtown Cape. I live on Main Street and this is the last thing that I want by my home. I do not want to raise my child by a casino. It won't bring in more money, but it will bring in more drunk drivers and thieves. There are families that have lived here for years that probably have the same opinion on this sore subject. You want to put in something that will attract tourists and visitors, then put in something for the kids. Another Kubrick needed With the return of the Cold War, we need Hollywood to make an updated version of "Dr. Strangelove," particularly since so many pols in many countries (including our own) seem so determined to take us not only to but over the brink of nuclear annihilation. Bombs away! McCain's houses Senator McCain is unsure of how many houses he owns. Big deal. If he has that many, maybe he could give at least one or two to the homeless. Autocracy survives Just a decade or so ago I believed that autocracy and free markets were incompatible. I believed the latter would destroy the former, and autocracy would give way to free market capitalism. China and Russia alone have led me to one firm conclusion: Boy, was I wrong. Caught in the cookie jar WE HAVE a certain county commissioner who spends a lot of time charging other people with corrupt behavior. That's funny considering the source, but I guess that's what he feels he needs to do to win an election. It's political mudslinging 101: When you have few positives about yourself and in fact got your hand caught in the cookie jar (with secret tape recordings), attack everyone else. Dog Days of August After watching McCain and Obama at the Saddleback forum, it appears we have two choices for president. One is an old dog set in his ways and the other is a young pup learning new things. Take your pick. Deteriorating pool Has anyone else noticed the rapid deterioration of Central's pool? The bath house is filthy, the floors are nasty and the lifeguards congregate in social circles discussing hangovers and parties instead of monitoring the safety of pool patrons. What is going on? Who is guide for? I am a student at Southeast Missouri State University. Earlier today, I picked up the latest issue of our school newspaper, "The Arrow," and was disappointed with what I came across. There was an article entitled "A Beginner's Guide to Cape" in which the author listed the convenient spots for groceries, movie rentals, coffee shops, etc. It was easy to tell that this article was geared toward all of the new incoming students, in which most are freshman directly out of high school. Sounds innocent enough, right? I thought so too until I stumbled across the author's advice that Schnucks is close to campus and consistently has the best deals on liquor. As if promoting underage drinking was not enough (on a dry campus, nonetheless), the author continues to also advise that SEMO Video is the place to go for those students wishing to rent more adult choices. So, it's obviously not only a beginner's guide to Cape, but also a beginner's guide to purchasing alcohol and porn. Now, I am not a fool and I totally realize that such shenanigans are typically part of the college experience, but should our school newspaper be encouraging such behavior? Problems start here At first I was deeply troubled by the failing schools in Jackson and Cape. But then I remembered that any organization fails or succeeds from the top down. Let's look at our county. Nathan Cooper is now in federal prison. Jason Crowell and Rod Jetton are playing pass the hat with each other's money. Scott Lipke's own law firm does lobbying work in Jeff City. One county official looks at porn in the office. The old boy network in the County Commission engages in questionable acts and then use their power to cover for one another. And don't even get me started on Morley Swingle. Actually, it makes perfect sense that the rest of the county has problems. Ambulance petition I find it very interesting that there is a petition going around for an ambulance district in Cape County. It's about time! It's time for Cape County to receive Emergency Medical Services that it deserves. Politics and religion Bad news for David Limbaugh. A majority of Americans (including those who are Republicans and call themselves conservatives) want politics and religion kept apart. Housing fun The way I see it, if Rush Limbaugh can poke fun at Obama's brother living in a shack in Africa and saying if Obama is elected that's the kind of housing we'll all have, it's perfectly OK for Obama to chide McCain for having no clue as to how many houses he and Cindy McCain own. The economic issues Well, here we go again. We call for tighter immigration policies and closing the border to aliens (legal and undocumented) who are "stealing" our jobs. And yet employers cannot find red-blooded Americans willing to take those jobs at minimum wage. We decry the loss of manufacturing jobs to those horrible communist countries like China, and yet red-blooded Americans are not willing to pay the higher price for the locally-produced merchandise made by our friends and neighbors. We complain loudly about those scoundrels in Washington who pander to big oil companies and special-interest groups, and yet we re-elect them over and over. We ignorantly believe that homosexuality and the gay agenda is an attack on Christian marriage, and yet red-blooded, heterosexual Americans continue to have adulterous affairs and file for divorce as if it was no big deal. We rant and rave how we need prayer in school, and yet very few of these people even pray at home, let alone attend church. We complain how there is no good candidate running for president, and yet very few of these people voted in past elections. Pogo was right. We have met the enemy and it is us. Parent link problems I would just like to say how disappointed I am with the Jackson school system. I can't understand why the parent link system is not up and running now that school has started. They had all summer to make updates and it should be ready to go. There is no excuse for this. I would also like to say that the article about the new lunch schedule at the high school forgot to mention that in order to have time for four lunch shifts some of the students have to go to lunch at 10:30. That's not lunch, it's brunch. Comments |

Deteriorating pool,
OMG...didn't you hear...we have a new WATER PARK coming to town! "Its for the kids!"
Which pool are you speaking of...the bubble or Capaha? The Vote YES budget (while no longer online for review) did included several hundred thousands of dollars to update/change BOTH exisiting pools. School district is even kicking in $750,000 for 1/2 the Bubble's repairs. Park and Rec dudes were quite eager to ask the school district for these fund's approval a couple months before the sales tax vote. Seems to me...Bubble pool work should have been started by now?
Now Capaha pool will end up being a sprinkler pad thing-y, if I recall correctly? So, if that is the pool you are speaking of...I'm glad to see they aren't wasting a bunch of money if they are going to shut down that pool or fill it in? (Again...no budget to refer to...so this is pure memory stuff...eh...memory is not always trustworthy.)
Have a great day ALL!
Silent Bob,
Thank you for the “great big heart” compliment! “Just keep your sticky little fingers out of my pocket.” Hehehe No worries, I don’t carry a gun with me at all times...like some of our forum buddies.
If putting a casino downtown means drunk driving, then I guess that will make the police dept's job MUCH easier in nabbing irresponsible drivers now, won't it?
If McCain doesn't bother to know how many houses he has, how is he going to convince me that he's going to know where my tax dollars are going???
The last time I checked, college is intended for ADULTS. If you don't intend on buying alcohol and porn in the first place, then reading about it isn't going to make you a "bad person" or whatever. College drinking will NEVER stop, so long as college remains the usual first step after people move away from their parents. It's a form of cutting lose and acquainting yourself with your own rules and form of conduct.
While it may be true that the majority of Americans want religion and politics seperated, those Americans don't live here! Most people here won't be satisfied until it becomes illegal to practice anything except for Christianity.
Good Morning folks:
MeLange:
I'm glad my posting didn't upset you with my stick fingers joke. Maybe this weekend when I have more time we can have an in depth discussion on charity.
Today's joke is dedicated to all my friends in the country!!
An old farmer went to town to see a movie.
The ticket agent asked, "Sir, what's that on your shoulder?"
The old farmer said, "That's my pet rooster Chucky, wherever I go, Chucky goes."
"I'm sorry sir.", said the ticket agent, "We don't allow animals in the theater."
The old farmer went around the corner and stuffed the bird down his pants. He returned to the booth, bought a ticket and entered the theater.
He sat down next to two old widows named Mildred and Marge.
The movie started and the rooster began to squirm. The old farmer unzipped his pants so Chucky could stick his head out and watch the movie.
"Marge", whispered Mildred.
"What", said Marge.
"I think this guy next to me is a pervert.", said Mildred.
"What makes you think that", asked Marge.
"He unzipped his pants and he has his thing out", whispered Mildred.
"Well, don't worry about it", said Marge, "At our age we've seen them all."
"I thought so", said Mildred, "But this one is eating my popcorn."
OK I know that's an old joke but its a good one!!
As a person that loves a good joke I'm inviting all of my fellow posters to send me your best and I will continue to pass them on,
No Racist or Religious jokes PLEASE!!
Silent_Bob58@live.com
good morning everyone
re:Autocracy survives..if China or Russia has such
a good deal going these days then move to China or
Russia ...i think you will see the real difference..
Silent_Bob;
I agree with Mildred; with the cost of theatre popcorn, I don't want anything eating mine, either!
Wow
Arrest made in Colorado on possible plan to kill Obama.
Is there any one of you out there that didn't expect this??
I always said that this would happen. I'm glad it didn't.
Babe if you're going to quote huge passages from Wiki, you ought to at least cite them, dear. And when you pick and choose what you quote - you are showing your Republican bi-a$$. BTW that conservative South in the quote, became today's Republican party in the south (those against the movement were all southern Democrats). If you are going to give me a lesson Babe, get it right or I will call you on it BABE, dear.
Here's my quote from them: The civil rights movement of the 1960s has continued to inspire the party's (Democrat) liberal principles,[2] despite having lost the more conservative South in the process.
Oh, which party has a black candidate for president? No comment on that?
Silent_Bob
i didn't expect it to hit the media because it's
so obvious ...there will be more , dontcha think ?
Rick
Yes, I just pray that they are not successful!
I don't like him at all but I don't want to see him harmed.
...yeah , it would be a shame to see him hurt or
die due to somebody's ignorance ...
all kinds of hell would break out if something
happened to him or McCain right now...
IMO...There are very good reasons we ALL should be paying very close attention to the Vice-Presidential candidates! Let us not forget McCain's age and health too.
SIMPLETON,
I'm sorry...but don't you think we should expect a Presidential candidate to at least have the mental capacity left to recall how many houses they own? (Can we say de·men·tia? Nope, that was NOT a joke!)
...er , him = Obama
SIMPLETON - no one said McCain should give up his houses, but he ought to be able to count them. I think the question stemed from the McCain camp calling Obama rich and an elitist. You do remember that, don't you?
...wow..has the election sunk to houses ?
Morning everyone
Personally I think we better like the VP choice that the candidates have because we have a big chance they will be the one serving out at least part of the term as President.
Yes Melange,
I still support the Water Park! The speak out poster said the Central Pool, which I take to mean the Bubble, since Central owns half? It may be they are delaying upkeep of the pool due to upcoming renovations as you stated.
What concerns me is the statement about the staff. Safety issues are not negotiable! This needs to be addressed!
Who is guide for? Shenanigans? Next it will be tomfoolery, then all manner of high-jinx will ensue.
Simpleton....what happened to your avatar, it suited you...
Now, I am not a fool and I totally realize that such shenanigans are typically part of the college experience, but should our school newspaper be encouraging such behavior?
I can see no reason why they should not!
Certainly there are many students at SEMO
over the age of 21.And adult movies can be
obtained at anytime right here on the net!
Schnucks is indeed the only liquor store in Cape
with decent prices and good selection.I see nothing wrong with a beginners guide to cape.Frankly I think its a win win situation.
Is there no news about the convention in today's paper?
I see stories about Neal Boyd, food, a gas station-slash-hamburger joint and SEMO football. There is one AP story about GOP attacks on Hillary.
I'm curious to see what kind of coverage the RNC gets from Rust & Co.
convention?
Stevemo? LOL
I know business people who know nothing of their spouses' business dealings or property holdings. I see all of this as a non issue. Individuals who continue to harp on McCain's wealth saw nothing wrong with the much larger holdings of Kerry's wife and many who see nothing significant about McCain's holdings saw a problem with those of Kerry's wife; politics as usual and all of it pretty irrelevant to who would make the "best" president.
Especially when talking about Kerry's wife when she wasn't running for President. Why would you bring that up unless you were trying to divert reader's attention to something else. It's like if you bring your neighbor down, you may move up. Rediculous!
ridiculous....darn spell check!
Theorist, Good one.
Theorist, the good one comment was about your zinger at my importance,or lack of, not your comment about McCain. The democrats are using McCain's house comment to undermine his tenuous connection with the common man. However since eight of the ten richest senators are democrats it seems a little disingenuous to point fingers at McCain's wealth.
Melange, it seems a little out of character for you to label McCain's comments a sign of dementia.
"eight of the ten richest senators are democrats"
got a link for that comment buddy?
since the missourian is pretending that the DNC isn't happening, I got time on my hands - and I'd like to read more about that.
...what's a DNC ??
stevmo
When McCain's campaign tries to paint Obama as rich and an elitist, I think others have a point when they show McCain's wealth (and his 7 kitchen tables).
stevemo,
"The democrats are using McCain's house comment to undermine his tenuous connection with the common man."
B-I-N-G-O!!! Stevemo wins the pot, eh...prize! I was being very sarcastic with my "de·men·tia" comment. Honestly, McCain NO more forgot how many houses he (and his wife) owned than a man in the moon! HE was IMO trying to form a "connection with the common man", by NOT disclosing how many homes he owned.
Last week McCain didn't know how many houses he owns, this week Obama doesn't know what city he's in
http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080825/BLOGS09/80825054&6
stevemo,
My comment was pointed at the fact that said person/people are not running for President. I have always looked for the ability of the leader of our country to empathize with the "common man". If you have never been there, it is definitely harder to do so!
One can be an "elitist" with or without wealth. Oh, say someone who brags about their GPA and multiple degrees...
Elitism is a state of mind, not an economic condition.
Rick,
"...wow..has the election sunk to houses ?" Not for me.
This comment applies to all candidates for representation: It is just another great example of main stream politics. At the federal (and state) levels (and dang it even local level...by some)... Voters really can NOT trust that the candidates for representation are telling us the truth during campaigns (and sometimes while in office). Everything, but openness, honestly and the truth are common-place.
Again, if we could only do away with the two-party system and open the gates for independents to run on an even playing field...I think we would see a much different ball game!
btw...It is one very beautiful August day outside!!!
yes it's a beautiful day..i'm going out as soon
as my oxygen gets here!
McCain admitted that he didn't know the difference between Shia and Sunni muslims.
McCain admitted that he doesn't know enough about the economy.
McCain can't keep track of his own houses.
McCain has never had to work in the private sector a day in his life. Ever. Always on the public dole.
McCain is unfit to lead, by his own admissions of ignorance. 5 years as a POW makes him an honorable vet. That's it.
FriendO, google it buddy.
Simpleton,
bitter gun-totin', Bible carrying common folk. Something is very wrong with your phrase....bitter and gun-totin just don't properly go with Bible carrying, not correctly anyway.
However, if beat me you must, remember "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"!
Thanks the avatar is back....laughing
Well now stevmo, I didn't make the claim - you did, buddy.
People should back their claims up with facts instead of putting the onus on everyone else.
I don't consider risking your life by serving in the military as "being on the government dole".
One can be an "elitist" with or without wealth. Oh, say someone who brags about their GPA and multiple degrees...
Elitism is a state of mind, not an economic condition.
-- Posted by Red_Rhino on Tue, Aug 26, 2008, 10:48 am CDT
Can be...but just because someone has a great GPA or multiple degees, doesn't make them an elitist either. I' like to try having an intelligent president for a CHANGE. Oh, I know Bush is smart too...he proves it over and over. I guess he's just trying to avoid that elitist label.
Why is Obama or McCain so important? Some say that they will be running the country. Some will say that they are leaders of the free world.
They are neither of these things, if elected they would head up the executive branch of the US government.
Testing. #%&@ 'puter...or site.
Gee. I rushed back last evening with my eyeballs burning from chlorine to catch some of the greased *******-rope festivities and CCCL riot parties in the Denver streets, and what's the first "action" I see? The House Bloviator, Popeyed Pelosi, droning on and on with the (un)convention center silent...like everyone was snoozing. I was hoping they'd switch more often to cameras and the unwashed imps in the streets, but not much luck there. Hopefully, things will get more entertaining tonight.
Is it my imagination, or are SO inputs growing more and more to the size of letters to the editor, or even op-eds? Well, hmmm, here's a short one.
Politics and religion:
Well, I'm not sure who this "majority of Americans" is supposed to be (certainly not the moral silent majority), but I think I understand the strategy...which is that "good" socialists are required to recognize no higher "authority" other than the STATE!! Oh, and we can't feel fulfilled without non-achievers hating achievers, can we?
Interesting INTEL:
Had a brief, albeit interesting encounter yesterday with someone who claimed he was with, or at least quite familiar with what's going on at the paper. So I asked if he was into the online stuff such as SO, and he said, "oh yeah", and said I can expect some "changes", maybe even some elimination...trying to "clean things up" a bit. Well, being a curious sort, I dropped some handles of usual suspects on him (even my own), and his responce was rather interesting, to say the least. We were both in a hurry, but I wish I would have asked him what his position at the paper was. Perhaps he was just messin' with me, but sure seemed to know what he was talking about. Oh, well, maybe I'll find out soon.
Test Out. See if this freakin' 'puter can behave now...at least my eyeballs are clearing up!
No, having multiple degrees and a high GPA does not necessarily make one an "elitist", but bragging about it to put other posters down sure makes me think that person is an "elitist". I don't really think George Bush is running again, but you seem to know far more than I.
hilleco,
Election years make for good entertainment. It is relaity TV at its best (or worst).
Hilleco,
Very valid point, I think we give any president too much credit or too much blame for what happens while they are in office. I will neither celebrate nor mourn the election of either of the two presidential candidates.
SIMPLETON:
I cannot vote for a man who openly admits that he doesn't know enough about the economy. I cannot vote for a man who doesn't understand the sunni-shia divide in the Middle East. I don't care what Joe Biden says about McCain. Good for McCain and Joe Biden. Listen to Biden if you want. Me? I decide for myself. Thank you. I have decided that McCain is not sharp enough for the job.
Red_Rhino
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see where Obama was bragging about his GPA or multiple degrees. When, where was that?
SIMPLETON:
Perhaps, although Biden made those statements as an opponent. McCain made the previous statements I posted below about himself. They are admissions from his own mouth that he really isn't up for the job. Bush told us he didn't know much about foreign policy and international affairs and look what we got. I have learned to listen to what candidates say about themselves. McCain's own admission that he is ignorant on the economy disqualifies him, especially during challenging economic times.
Red Rhino,
"No, having multiple degrees and a high GPA does not necessarily make one an "elitist", but bragging about it to put other posters down sure makes me think that person is an "elitist"."
Guess I've missed some post? The only poster I recall mentioning their GPA (in passing) is myself and still have two years to go for my first degree. If you were referring to my post, I do use my work experience as reference...but only to reflect credibility in an issue/topic. I also make it a habit of suggesting someone educate (aka inform) themselves on a topic...when they are way off base with facts.
Were you using your post as an example, or do you have a problem with someone bragging aka "elitist" fellow poster?
Simpleton,
"...they cling to guns or religion..."
Please note the "or"....In ordinary language "or" has the meaning of exclusive disjunction.(Thanks wikipedia) My reference was to your use of guns and religion, totally different.
Melange,
In fairness, Red Rhino was not refering to you in his post. Though if I'm mistaken I appologize for butting in.
Simpleton,
One of the problems with the whole primary is that they tear each other apart by saying the other is not qualified or not as qualified as they are. Both sides do it, then expect and want the other's support when the winner is declaired. I'm sure Romney is supporting McCain even though McCain ripped him a new one in the primaries. Hell, McCain even went as far as to call Ron Paul a Democrat, but I'm sure he would take Paul's endorcement if he hasn't already. And yes Clinton is expected to campaign for Obama even though they had a fairly heated/negative campaign in the primaries. Just standard fare for politics.
Though am curious if we were able to get rid of the "two party" system if it would negate both the far left and far right from the power they now hold over their respective parties?? Ah, only in a utopian world, and no Herr not the Marxist one.
Ok, back to lurking. Sorry for the interruption.
If I was a voter, I would expect to hear only one thing from any person running for a national office. "I agree to be ruled by the Constitution of the United States. As (whatever office) I pledge to uphold the supreme law of the land. I would consider anything less to an act of a common criminal". End of speech.
Why would anyone vote for such a weak individual that they couldn't follow the law? The job of every elected national office is outlined in the Constituion. At your business would you hire someone unwilling to perform the position that you outlined for them?
I don't really think George Bush is running again, but you seem to know far more than I.
-- Posted by Red_Rhino on Tue, Aug 26, 2008, 11:16 am CDT
Umm...didn't think nor say that, but did use him as an example of what I don't want again!
Pups,
I wasn't sure "which" poster he was referring to...that is why I was asking. Honestly, don't recall any other poster mentioning their GPA? (Again...my memory ain't so good.) I sure hope I don't come across as an "elitist"? Definately not my intent...but one never knows how others will interpret what you write/type.
pups,
go back to lurking and quit trying to make sense. there will be none of those rational moderate ideas here! You commie/lib.
SWBG,
You're right, what was I thinking??? Oh that's right I made the fatal flaw of actually doing that. I must strive in the future of not doing it again. I forget my place sometimes. ;-)
MeLange
You keep harping on the two-party system. You are quite free to support anyone you want in a third or fourth party. Just spend your time and money getting them on the ballot.
Hmmm. Got back, and most everything seems to be working well. I'm at least trying to find an excuse to blame Charter for strange interruptions, especially when I'm in the middle of doing something.
ASSINATION ATTEMPT??? Already? That's not good, can't have that. It just doesn't stand up to the concept of "peaceful" transition of power...especially within the Dem-soc Party. Well, wait...could equate to SOP in said party. Anyway, the conspiracy theorists should have a field day with this.
Conspiracy Theory One: Of course, it's a GOP plot. Uh, huh.
Conspiracy Theory Two: Keep in mind Popeyed Pelosi's position in the power food-chain...and lust for power. Perhaps too risky, as she can "buy" her way up.
Conspiracy Theory Three: Perhaps the most likely(?). Is it possible that some of Hitlery's wacked-out, "disenfranchised" brownshirts followers, maybe those CCCL's in the Denver streets, might be behind this? But, surely, with no knowledge or direction on her part...hmmm, maybe. But there is no doubt...she's circling like a vulture for an "opportunity", so don't bank on her just quietly going away. I'm sure the theorists can come up with ample scenarios for this one.
Conspiracy Theory Four: I don't buy into the crazy notion that some entertain that the B.O. is the anti-Christ. After all, He's the Annointed One and, correct me if I'm wrong, he'd need a survivable head wound, so belay that one...no, wait. Scenario adjustment. The idiots were said to be scheming about sneaking a 22 cal. scoped rifle in there. Well, they would've had to be expert snipers (not certain Hitlery has those kinds of hired guns, or how many...but wouldn't be surprised) even if the dumb-Alphas got a good perch. Oh, oh, potential amendment to this theory...perhaps the whole plan was to inflict only a glancing wound...which may actually link the plotters to...no! Just can't go there, even if it is possible. Leave that to the dedicated c-theorists to work out in their pajamas!
Well, that should be enough for the nut-jobs to munch on for starters. I must say, though, if at least sample theories two through four (...and four a) should pan out, God forbid, it would at least demonstrate how the socialist left eradicates their own, while concurrently taking out those who refuse to submit to them. Anyway, I hope that "e", none of the above, turns out to be the real theory. Gotta think about getting busy on some required chores now. Burma Shave.
Herr
I'm sure you're awaiting breathlessly for Hillary to speak tonight. Her delegates are still infighting in the work sessions with her encouragement. On another note I wish the pundits covering the convention would enlighted people of the actual work that is done at these conventions other than speeches on the floor. I would be willing to bet that most folks don't have any idea of the process. They have already adopted their platform but I have not heard it mentioned.
re: pool
Despite the fact that they are waiting for renovations they can still clean it up!
re: ambulance petition
Great topic. Do residents in the county now have the option of purchasing ambulance contracts for both ground and helicopter services?
SIMPLETON,
Your viewing stats mean nothing...some have their mind made up already. I did not watch, eh...didn't watch Deal or No Deal either. Preferred, to watch The Closer. (I really likes her, she's so sassy!) :-)~
Simpleton -
by your numbers and my math, i get 12.15 million viewing the convention (not counting coverage on major cable news outlets, either).
so your comparison doesn't really make sense...
Me'Lange,
Sorry for getting back to you so late, I had to go to Cape of all places on business. Pups was correct, No I was not referring to you in reference multiple degrees or GPA, others have done so though.
Pups,
Glad to know you are out there even if you don't wish to post much, always happy to hear your opinions even when we disagree.
Suellen,
For what many refer to as an intellectually deficient person, George Bush has accomplished quite a bit, like graduating from Yale and learning to fly jet aircraft, Texas Governor. While he may not be a towering intellect, I do not consider him as "stupid" as many do. Of course I am not sure whether these people truly consider him such or just can't think of a legitimate argument. I may have differing points of view with various politicians, but try to stay away from the name calling, but that's just me.
C-Babe:
I kinda lost my breath yesterday swallowing too much water and trying to blind myself! But, yes, I gotta admit that Hitlery was my favorite pick for VP, as she's my preferred Stalinist in a pantsuit...and most especially better than the Popeyed P; can't stand even looking at that thing's eyes bugging out all the time.
There are at least two advantages that a B.O./Hitlery ticket may provide: 1). May possibly delay or even avoid what some believe is the B.O.'s likely fate(?); I was mildly impressed when I first saw him back in '04...not much anymore, but don't want to see him taken down. 2). The above combo may prove to be a better "wrecking ball team" for finishing off this country. Perhaps the sooner the better...just get it over with.
Ya see, C-Babe? Most in this bog, especially the alleged pseudo-intellectual ones, do not yet have much of a clue about what my general purposes are here...not to mention my somewhat mishievous albeit fun dark side. I think G-Mom has pegged me better than anyone, in her concise and penetrating sort of way! Try this on for size. I've been thinking that, considering the ever-growing, even breeding IBH in this country, perhaps "unworthy Americans" deserve to feel the full force of the jackboot of totalitarian socialism stomping down on their silly necks, since that seems to be what they're clamoring for. Too bad, though, that all Americans will have to partake in the festivities; however, maybe we can find out who the real Americans are, as it's getting harder to sort out!
My bottom line with this sort of pondering, Babe, is that what's approaching just may turn out to be a "window of opportunity" (a four year one?) starting to open up for those, like the fun-loving folks with DES, who have been quietly observing and patiently preparing for over quite a long period. Kind of a different way of viewing the situation, huh?!
Speaking of "opportunities", I'd best start moving on some I need to attend to today.
I was watching a bit of the Convention last night.
After a few minutes I realized all I was watching is a bunch of reporters interviewing people who don't know thier azz from a hole in the ground.
So,I switched channels and watched some show where animals were attacking each other!I found it to be very much like what I had been watching!
I think I will be playing softball at shawnee tonight.
Much more fun and certainly more important.
Simpleton,
I threw up the GPA when Who Me was accusing several of us as being uneducated. How else could I prove my point? Sorry if I somehow offended you (you must have taken that personally). Smile
Simpleton -
It was the first night - Obama wasn't even in Denver yet.
Check your totals (and the polls) in a few days.
The playoff analogy doesn't really fit - this wasn't the big game; it's the big pep rally before the game.
And I stand by my comment about this paper's non-coverage of the Dem Convention - not a single article regarding last night. I think that is pretty shoddy, and I don't expect the RNC to receive such poor treatment.
Red_Rhino,
Thanks for the clarification...I must have either missed the post you are referring to or viewed them differently. (Really didn't take your post personally, just simply couldn't recall them.)
SIMPLETON,
You might look pretty silly when/if you are proven wrong. No one will know the outcome of the election...until folks actually vote! However, feel free to continue to entertain yourself.
Theorist,
I don't believe Simpleton brought up a comparison of GPA's and degrees, it was I. Of course uneducated and lacking intelligence, I could be wrong. Also, you are not the only one to have done so, just the most recent. I have discussed this matter in the past as while I also have a degree, I consider myself no more intelligent than anyone without such.
...what's a Dim?
A lot of 'simple' minded folks would vote Republican whether they watch the RNC or not,, just simple minded.
And what can you expect from a 'Rust' newspaper, Democrats don't even exist.
I think that GW Bush is smart. But to use Harvard and Yale as sources to prove a politician's son as being intelligent is just plain wrong. Most universities receive plenty of grant monies by graduating a politician's son or daughter near the top of their class, and they don't necessarily have to earn that position.
My problem with GW was not intelligence but his weakness of character. It takes a man/woman of strong character to uphold the Constitution. George just didn't have it.
..does that make a Republican a Ripublican , or
a Rep = Rip ?
RickScaggs --
Rep = Rip -- As in, they ripped us off? I like it.
Well, looks like old Bill is acting up again. He has pouted that he doesn't like the topic he was assigned for his speaking role. He has dissed Obama on two occasions to journalists who say he is an angry man. They are the same old trash that they were in the WH. Lord have mercy....will we ever be rid of these two?
Hilleco
Have you noticed that there is another dragon on the scene for you to slay?
But I can't resist saying that Dubya made better grades than Gore or Kerry if you check the facts.
Facts only confuse some people and apparently GW Bush did not earn his degree, but was rather given it by virtue of his family, or so I have been told.
Perish the thought that W would ever run again for anything! According to the latest polls, W's rating now is lower than Nixon's. (Need I remind anyone that both were Republicans?)
Don't know how important approval ratings are while someone is still in office or even several years thereafter. From what I have read Churchill and Truman were not particularly well thought of by the time they left office. And no, I am not comparing GW Bush to either, just an observation of changing times and thoughts on politicians.
Red_Rhino: I didn't say that Bush didn't earn his degree. But is common to inflate the grades of powerful politicians sons and daughters.
Any president that cannot abide by and stand up for the Constituion is weak. That goes for presidents and Congressmen, and should include their supporters when their politicians cross the line without their criticism.
Red
Some folks just do not understand President Bush's self-deprecating humor. They actually believed him when he said he was stupid. giggle
Have you seen the tv and radio association yearly roast of the presidents? Republicans do just fine but dems have great problems making fun of themselves.
Did anyone see McCain on Jay Leno last night? He hit the ball out of the park.
Hilleco,
I must admit I know nothing of Ivy League schools or how they work. I can only judge by the Professors I have known and those in my family; if you didn't earn a grade, you didn't get it.
I suppose whether or not you support a president depends on your judgment of what is and is not proper.
Red
this is totally off subject but thought you may be able to guide us in the right direction. Where would parents need to address letters to try and change the laws for registered sex offenders.
Would appreciate anyone who could get some info on this
Semo,
Are you wanting them stricter?
semoangel,
Missouri representative look-up:
http://www.senate.mo.gov/llookup/leg_lookup.aspx
1999 HB1405-REQUIRES CIVIL COMMITMENT OF SEXUAL PREDATORS. (Thought this might be a handy source.)
http://www.house.missouri.gov/content.aspx?info=/bills98/bills98/HB1405.htm
You can write your State Representative and Senator, but most are in favor of stricter rather than more lenient laws. Like I said the other day, the Sex Offender Registration laws have been litigated to death in the Supreme Court. One of the present flaws in the present system is that what was once considered Statutory Rape is no longer as certain age requirements must now be met and that was not the case in the past, so what was considered a crime a few years ago is not any longer, but a person may still have to register. This is not unique to Missouri. Another problem is that the rules are so darned hard to understand that many in charge of registration don't know who has to and who doesn't. Of course you also have situations in which someone is arrested and charged with a sex offense, but during plea bargaining, it is reduced to Endangering the Welfare of a Child in which case no registration is required. It is all very confusing.
There is also always the option of applying for a Gubernatorial Pardon if the circumstances warrant such and if one is able to verbalize how a Pardon would eliminate obstacles placed on an individual with such a conviction. There would really have to be extenuating circumstances however. You can read about Pardon Applications/Executive clemency on the Missouri Probation and Parole website and I think you can print the form off to submit.
I am kind of working in the dark here, so hopefully I have been able to address some of your concerns.
Red_Rhino: I think that we have had a bad run of presidents. Actually I have been giving this president a free ride compared to what I gave Clinton on my former website. I do give GWs supporters low marks for defending a very unRepublican president.
"Did anyone see McCain on Jay Leno last night? He hit the ball out of the park."
No doubt, Leno's show is based on comedy. I'm sure he fair quite well, since McCain's such a big joke. *giggle*
Reference McCain's houses ?? LOL Who are you trying to kid? I would say they belong to Cindy Hensley McCain. After all, she does wear the financial pants in that family. *giggle*
Our dear Clair is speaking now.
For those who are interested, KFVS is streaming the oil tank removal from the Mississippi River LIVE.

SIMPLETON,
If I'm NOT mistaken...I believe Robert Erlbacher will be responsible for the recovery charges, the Coast Guard costs and for the damages to the new bridge (from the first tank roaming incident).
Casino not good: Big? Like the MGM Grand??? Whoopee!
Another Kubrick needed: Speilberg resurrected the Russians in the New Indiana Jones film, though not quite as "dark-comical" as Strange Love, it was nostalgic.
McCain's houses: They're not his. LOL
Autocracy survives: LOL
Caught in the cookie jar: Hmmm
Dog Days of August: Already did.
Deteriorating pool: Rapid? LOL 25 years old?? We have only two pools and now double the population. Nothing lasts forever.
Who is guide for?: You need to watch "Animal House" Yes...some people actually live a little while in college. Maybe you should too.
Problems start here: Yes yes yes!! Finally someone get's it. Crap rolls down hill. It's a proven fact. Don't believe me? Try it.
Ambulance petition: While I respect CCA for their long standing devotion (and cornered market) service, I agree. It's time for another ambulance option.
Politics and religion:
Bad news for David Limbaugh: Awww.
Housing fun: Yep, fair is fair.
The economic issues: YES!
Parent link problems: Hmmm.
Hilleco,
I guess I will just have to learn to live with your disdain. I may disagree with some of Bush's policies as mentioned by Simpleton and I certainly would have preferred a more vigorous defense of our 2nd Amendment, but compared to the alternative, I have no regrets about voting for him.
I must admit that I too am often tempted to adopt a political philosophy that has never been put into practice successfully so that I cannot be held responsible for any of my decisions and hurl insults at others for their lack of character, but I am forced to live in a world as it exists rather than one as I wish it did.
Tax rates according to Ben Bernanke: Producer price index rose nearly 10 percent. The consumer price index or CPI rose 5.6 percent. FED Chairman Bernanke calls these price rises taxes. The expansion of the money supply which benefits government, government contractors, and banks places a tax on the consumption of goods and services by that amount. So where have taxes been lowered by this administration, no where, not even for the rich.
The Doctor seems a little upset today. **Giggle**
Red_Rhino: If you voted for Bush, you are responsible for his presidency. You must have forgotten about the Fourth Amendment.
The war on terror: British and French intelligence put the number of al Qaeda (forgive my spelling) at 300 to 700 at the time of 9/11, the CIA put the number at 1300. If we use the 1300 figure, that would mean that the US spent $500 million dollars for each terrorist. Don't appear to be a bargain to me. And they claim that there are more terrorists out there.
As for John Kerry: He benefits more money wise than any other Congressman off this so-called war on terror. He has $35 million invested in the Military Industrial Complex.

Oh I know. To you Liberal Pukes, that's different.
Hilleco,
I will gladly accept my responsibility for putting Bush in office.
I try not to put a dollar value on life.
While some may possess the gift of clairvoyance, I do not, so I don't know what would have happened or how much it would have cost had we gone down a different path.
It is interesting how people choose to accept some information from "Intelligence Agencies" and not others.
What does it matter how many terrorists were in Iraq? The horse has left the barn. All this woulda, coulda, shoulda BS is meaningless. If the UN would done their job, we coulda stayed our of Iraq. Bill Clinton shoulda done his job when the Cole was bombed or given the OK to kill Osama when they had him in sight, but noooooooo.....he was too busy reading the polls rather than being President. We're in the middle of a war, and it's way to late for the woulda, shoulda, coulda.
Maybe the Messiah will pull out our troops as he promised all Spring during the primaries. Oh, I forgot, he's changed his stance on that. **Giggle**
pardon the fat fingers...
Red_Rhino: So you take responsibility for Bush and the Rpublicans rapid increase in spending when he first took office in 2001 before the 9/1 attacks. The largest increase since FD Roosevelt and the largest growth in entitlements since LB Johnson. This is the new Republicanism, the ism has been earned, the tax and spend party. I'll bet that outpacing Democrats was hard thing to do.

You are right it is all very confusing. Now here is the deal........the man in Chaffee pleaded guilty to it in 1981 but becacuse of the laws he did not have to register as a sex offender which in return left us as parents clueless to his past and accepted him as a great guy concerned about kids etc, then our world is rocked by the new charges. It was also statuatory rape then against a family memeber as well, even with todays law it still would be.
Me'Lange
Thanks for the link
Pups
First glad to see you back and second Damn straight I want them tougher. these people are sick and it seems they have more rights than the victims.
If any of you republicans actually believe that John McCain is the choice for America, you are more insane than I ever imagined....
Stop using the fear excuse and trying to scare people into thinking that with a Democrat in office, we will get attacked AGAIN...
Yeah, we're so much safer with a Republican...
So safe in fact, that when Bush should have been paying attention to his terror alert memos, he was too busy on vacation for a month.
We were attacked with him in office. And now the number of people who hate us has grown IMMENSELY.
So the answer is John McCain? Remember Hurricane Katrina? He probably doesn't... He was too busy having a big birthday party... His buddy George Bush flew in for it... I guess they got lost trying to get down to New Orleans...
Wake up. Open your eyes. Stop believing the people who say they listen to god. If they are really following God's plan, We wouldn't have lost more Americans in Iraq than we did on Sept.11...
Our president is to blame for that. He has killed more Americans than Osama Bin Laden. Think about that...
He has lied, cheated, and stolen his way thru this presidency. Hell, he didn't even win the election in 2000, but he still slid his way in...
It's amazing what you can do when your cousin is the head of Fox News, and your brother is the governor of the state with voting troubles....
Listen to your heart, read as much as you can. (and that doesn't mean the david limbaugh crap that they print in here)
Can you really trust our entire nation to a man who spent years inside a little cage in Vietnam? It's just a longshot, but I am guessing he lost just a tad bit of sanity there....
John McCain is no different that drugs... JUST SAY NO
And what... you don't agree with abortion or gay marriage or legalizing marijuana?
Have you ever had an abortion, had a gay friend, or smoked pot?
Are these the issues that matter???
I tell you what. You get every Republican in this country to adopt an unwanted child, and abortion wouldn't be necessary, and the argument would be over...
Don't think gay marriage is right???
Get over it. It's between them and God... Remember that book you guys like so much? It says to NOT judge your fellow man. Why are christians the most judgmental people on earth. Church gossip anyone?
Leave these people alone. It's bad enough to you have live every day of your life knowing that people HATE your guts just because you are you, but you can't find someone who loves you, settle down, be a family, maybe adopt some children, pay taxes, contribute to america, and yet when your spouse dies when you are 75 years old, their retirement doesn't go to you, you can't pay for the funeral, you lose your home, and die alone, broke and heartbroken?
Yeah, that's the American way... Screw you if you're not like me...
It's unchristian and evil.
If it is a sin, God will deal with it. It's not your damn job... Mind your own business and leave your fellow man alone.
And don't even get me started on weed...
I like the fact that I can live in a country where I can go to the store, buy a bottle of EVERCLEAR, which if I drank till it was gone, would probably kill me. Or allow me to get in my car and kill someone else. Yet I am not allowed to grow something in my backyard that i can smoke to relax in the evening...
Legalize it, tax it, regulate it, and leave it alone...
Vodka doesn't ease the pain of glaucoma? Marijuana does, along with helping cancer patients, aids patients, and on and on......
This is a very important year... Vote for the person who is running so he can make America a better place for all, not the guy who is running so he can president.
Hilleco,
Good grief, you said I was responsible, who am I to question you? Like Simpleton I did not like the expenditures and have issues with some of his policies, but would vote for him again given the choice I had at the time.
Semoangel,
Like I said the other night, due to thew "Ex Post Facto" (After the Fact) portion of the Missouri Constitution, no one can be required to register if their crime was committed after the inception of the Sex Offender Registry in 1995. Attempts have been made to introduce legislation to modify the constitution, but without success. As you know changing the constitution requires a vote by the people even if the legislation is passed. One of the problems with modification will be to have the Ex Post Facto portion remain in effect with the exception of sex offenders. If this is not done, individuals will have no guarantee that sentences will not increase for other crimes as at one time the DOC promulgated a rule giving drug offenders an additional five years of parole during which time they were subject to serving their original time. The reason the Ex Post Facto clause kicks in on sex offenders is because there is a criminal penalty attached for failure to comply.
Hope I have not confused you more, but when I was working we would get new policy on this almost every month.
SemoAngel,
I wasn't asking to upset you. I was asking because their are areas of the 'registration requirements' that are not fair to the offender (teenagers because they have sex with another teenager). But in the case you are talking about, yes they need to be stricter.
Thank you btw.
Come on Guy's
I usually enjoy the banter that goes on here. Tonight's Tug-o-War hardly compares to a good game of PONG (Boring)!!
Lets Go,Jab-Jab Hook Jab Uppercut!!
Osama bin Laden, good friend of the Bushes.
My, my, how little one knows, yet chooses to speak.
Osama bin Laden was, and perhaps still is, a CIA asset.
Osama wasn't killed after the Cole incident, because Osama is a CIA assest, and has been since at least the early days of the Russian occupation of Afghanistan.
Clinton and Osama? Surely you jest.
Osama bin Laden, and his entire extended family in Saudi Arabia, were and still are very close, some say kissing close, to George Bush and the entire Bush crime family. Daddy Bush, Geroge Herbert Walker Bush, vacations in Saudi Arabia with the bin Ladens, and he stays with them when he visits the region.
Daddy Bush, Geroge Herbert Walker Bush, was and still is business partners with the bin Ladens through their Carlyle Group business interests. I believe that Infowarrior can tell you the extent of their cozy business relationship. Perhaps Infowarrior can detail from whence came the funding for some of the failed oil business ventures and ties of the Bush-bin Laden clan before W was Governor of Texas.
The Bush CIA closed it's Usama bin Laden unit/desk in July of 2006. How come? Why for be that? Hmmmmmm?
Gee, Usama isn't even named for the Nine-Eleven attacks on the FBI website. They have him down for the Kenya embassy attack, and the attack on the USS Cole, but not for the Twin Towers, or, the Pentagon attacks. How come be that? Why for? Splain it to me, pleez.
Then, there is the matter of the Bush government allowing aircraft flying Saudi nationals, including close relatives of Usama bin Laden out of this country, just days after the Nine-Eleven attacks, when all other American commerical aircraft were grounded, forbidden to fly. How come that? Me no savvy.
Clinton was not allowed to kill, nor, harm Usama bin Laden, because Usama bin Laden was a valuable tool, an asset to those who are emersed in intrigue in the CIA, NSA, and those who are in and outside of this government.
Now, in closing, there is this little tidbit that some with open minds will find very interesting. Usama bin Laden was in Dubai....you remember Dubai....don't you? Dubai is the nation that has close ties to the Carlyle Group, and the Bush crime family. Dubai is the nation that the FBI claims that most of the alleged Nine-Eleven hijackers traveled through to reach the US. Dubai is the country that the FBI claims that many of the alleged hijackers received wired funds. Least I forget. Dubai is the nation that attempted to buy the operations contract of at least 23 American seaports, including at least two who are shipping military supplies to the occupation troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dubai, through it's government owned corporation, Dubai Ports World, was going to operate our ports. Your president Bush was the major backer of the plan. He was angry when the word got out, people became alarmed and the opposition to his plan for Dubai Ports World seeminly fell through due to public protest.
Oh,.... I digressed. Dubai was where CIA agents met with Usama bin Laden in his hospital room, in July, 2001, TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE ATTACKS BY ON Nine-Eleven.
Gee, if Bush's CIA was a talking cozy like with Usama in his hospital room, why didn't the BUSH CIA follow up and kill Usama at their their earliest opportunity, in hospital, or, when he left? Hmmmmm. Me no know why. Pleez splain it. From the respected British newspaper, the Guardian.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/nov/01/afghanistan.terrorism
"Two months before September 11 Osama bin Laden flew to Dubai for 10 days for treatment at the American hospital, where he was visited by the local CIA agent, according to the French newspaper Le Figaro.
The disclosures are known to come from French intelligence which is keen to reveal the ambiguous role of the CIA, and to restrain Washington from extending the war to Iraq and elsewhere."
Oh, I didn't catch the name of the hospital in Dubai, where Usama bin Laden was being treated in July, 2001, TWO MONTHS BEFORE Nine-Eleven, what was it now?????
Oh, yeah... the "AMERICAN HOSPITAL."
Wow, Usama bin Laden was a patient in the AMERICAN HOSPITAL in DUBAI...when the CIA talked to him in his hosptial room there.
Yet, Usama lives?
Silent_Bob,
You are probably right, so I am out.
Biden Obama Jokes
Q, Why should Obama choose Joe Biden as his VP?
A. Obama needs to win Delaware to avoid getting skunked.
Q. What ever happened to Joe Biden's old wig?
A. It was chased away by a dog.
Q. Why did Joe Biden get a hair transplant?
A. To hide the mark of the beast.
Q. What's the difference between Obama bin Biden and Osama bin Laden?
A. With Obama bin Biden you get two for the price of one.

McCain versus Obama Jokes
If John McCain is elected President of the United States then the French will immediately surrender to us. If Barack Obama is elected President then the French will immediately invade us.
Here an interesting fact: If you add John McCain's age and Barack Obama's age together you'll get the number of times Obama usually says "uh" when answering a question.
The age disparity between the two candidates in the upcoming election is significant. John McCain is 71 years old. By contrast, Barack Obama is 322 years old in dog years.
Q. Why did John McCain cross the road?
A. There was an Old Town Buffet on the other side.
Q, Why did Barack Obama cross the road?
A. To help the other side.
After Barack Obama claimed to have campaigned in 57 states, John McCain should have sent him the name of a good Alzheimer’s specialist.
John McCain rolled up his sleeves and went offshore in the Gulf of Mexico looking for oil for American drivers. Barack Obama responded by going to the shores of Hawaii, taking off his shirt and oiling up his torso for American soccer moms.
Barack Obama's camp claims that John McCain was cheating in their first forum appearance because he actually gave straight answers to the questions. Politicians aren't supposed to do that.
Any candidate that John McCain picks to be his vice president will necessarily be a younger candidate than he is. Any candidate Barack Obama picks to be his vice president will necessarily be better candidate than he is.
It's a hard election for conservatives this year. They'll have to hold their noses tight in order to cast a vote for John McCain. But they'll have to hold on even tighter to their wallets if Obama gets elected.
The sad fact is that if John McCain is elected President he might not last another four more years. A sadder fact is that if Barack Obama is elected President then America might not last another four more years.
Wow the_eye, Funny how you feel persecuted by others who don't agree with you, and then you turn around and persecute them for the very thing you say you despise.
I just love the Liberal Puke Democrats' double standards. **Giggle**
Robert Goodbody, you're buddy Bill Clinton had all the opportunities in the world to get rid of his good buddy Obama...I mean Osama.
You Liberal Puke.
Robert Goodbody, I think the SEMO Home for Special Needs Children is hiring, and with our active imagination, you should do well with pallet building. God, please help this Liberal Puke who so happens to be a complete idiot. Amen.

Good night my friends, always remember and never forget that laughter IS the best medicine.
If you can't laugh at my jokes just scroll back and laugh at yourself!!
liberal pukes,
while i generally have little use for political correctness i find your choice of avatars inconsistent with your message. i believe the image to be St. Francis of Assisi.
here is an article in case you are ignorant of who he is.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/06221a.htm
i am not sure if you mean to demean Catholics, St. Francis, liberals, or people who are inconsistent in their beliefs and practices. you need not change nor apologize. just some feedback as we all need some from time to time.
ShHHHH
Hillary is talking!!
Blah Blah
Same old trash!!
As you were.
Why Liberal_Pukes ANTI-CATHOLIC avatar offends me.
Liberal_Pukes has chosen a very anti-Catholic avatar to show not only his bigotry toward and hatred for Catholics, but his racist proclivities toward Senator Obama.
His avatar is entitled SAINT OBAMA OF ASSISI. It was designed to mock Catholics as it takes a prayer card which asks for the intercession of St. Anthony of Assisi and it has the substituted head of Senator Obama for that of St. Anthony.
I do not know where this poster obatined the anti-Catholic avatar, but it is avaialble on the anti-Catholic, fundementalist Zionist site. http://rhymeswithright.mu.nu/archives/267093.php
It, did appear earlier this month on another site. http://joshmickelson.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/st-obama-of-assisi/
Josh Mickelson is another confused fundalementalist from the Denver-Boulder area in Colorado. Whether Mickelson is clearly anti-Catholic, or, not, is not easily determined. He could be using the St. Obama of Assisi photo on his website out of his hatred for Obama, because, as you all know, Obama is secretly a "Muslim." On the other hand, Mickelson could be using the St. Obama of Assisi photo, made up to look like a Catholic prayer card because he is anti-Catholic. Perhaps, as with many of these types, it is due to both reasons.
It was just uploaded there today.
The site is connected to Danny Carlton, a fundelmentalist Zionist wacko from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, who is clearly anti-Catholic.
I relish the spirit of debate. I don't believe that either Bear, or, Poppa said anything on this forum that should cause their banning. Perhaps, their exchange did drift into a grey area, but it was never threatening.
However, the use of a very clearly anti_Catholic avatar goes beyond debate. It is bigotry toward the Holy Catholic Church, and it is very racist. Libedal Pukes avatar should be unacceptable by Southeast Missourian standards.
With apologies to St. Francis of Assisi
After reading SFWBG's post, who shares my concern about the anti-Catholic avatar chosen by Liberal Pukes, I re-read my own.
I apologize to all, and esepcially to St. Francis of Assisi, and to St. Anthony of Padua, for incorrectly substituting the name of another favorite Saint of mine, St. Anothny of Padua. http://members.chello.nl/~l.de.bondt/AnthonyofPadua.jpg
The .jpg of St. Francis of Assisi, which these anti-Catholic fundalmentalists chose to mock Catholics and Senator Obama, can be found here. http://www.recoverytimes.com/images/St-Francis-birds-2.jpg
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa.
If Liberal Pukes Anti-Catholic avatar offends you.
If his anti-Catholic, mocking portrayal of Saint Francis of Assisi offends you, simply click on the circled exclamation point (!) which follows his posts.
Not only is his avatar clearly racist, but it is mockery of Catholics.
Debate is one thing, but to mock a religion, or, to promote racist bigotry in his avatar, clearly seems to me to be against the published standards of the Southeast Missourian.
If anything gets this forum closed, it will be Liberal Pukes anti-Catholic, racist avatar.
mr. goodby
take the F out of my acronym for i am not FAT. However thanks for the link as with my eyesight i could not make out that was the face of Obama on the avatar.
unfortunately Obama, like Kennedy, Reagan, and Clinton, has something that frightens people and that is charisma. regardless of the message if he were as dull as John Kerry i do not think those who disagree would feel so threatened by him. thus you get the bigotry and name calling.
i have seen similar attacks on John McCain but not to the same extent. with McCain it has been about his gaffes, his divorce, and his internment as a POW (btw which i find offensive).
it saddens me that so called enlightened individuals stoop to such tactics and do not engage in educated debate. now i may not agree with your world view (frankly i usually scroll past the long ones) i do not find them in such distaste.
i would hope that liberal pukes becomes enlightened by this and takes future posts/avatars into consideration. if not that should be the choice of the poster and i shall merely scroll past.

Well, I know this won't please the pesky conservative flies in the room, but it appears as though Hillary has hammered the first nail in the McCain Coffin, and shoveled the dirt over 8-years Republican dictatorship. Yes, the DEMOCRATS are back my friends, the tide shall indeed roll over the Capitalist scum which has kept this county at bay since 2000. No Way, No More, NO MCAIN! LOL!!
Here comes the swarm of rantics. *SWAT* SWAT* SWAT* LOL!! I'm soooooo happy!!!
shortwhitebaldguy,
You avatar is offensive and inciting. As usual, it appears the Republibs in the room are having trouble keeping their composure. Your avatar is in poor taste and brilliantly shows you're displeasure with what will be a "FOR SURE" defeat for McCain in November. Grow up shortfatwhitebaldguy. Religious persecution is not welcome in this forum.
Simpleton, there is no need to explain further...if you watched it, you very well know, it's over. McCain has already lost, and lost BIG.
fatshortwhitebaldguy, you also have my apology and sympathy.
Puke for Brains, ...You have been reported!
shortwhitebaldguy
I do apologize. I was trying to remember the acronym that you used to use, and thought that it included an "F". It is a mistake, and I apologize for it.
All the best,
RG
I am laughing so hard. Old Bill was sitting there mouthing "I love you, I love you, I love you" to Hillary. Yeah, right.
Simpleton, you have it all wrong. Just political persecution is ok! It's officially payback time for the republicons. ;o)
I'm boiling the tar now, and Robert Goodbody is preparing the feathers.
Polls schmolls, I'll be sure to post the polls next week during the RNC. LOL!
doc,
i think you have me confused with someone else. in no way was i defending the avatar of liberal pukes. suggest you reread. my avatar is uncle fester. is yours an old woman or an old man?
Babe,
How do you know he doesn't love her?? I guess you have a secret report from a federal investigator?? LOL...All these mind readers! LOL
Hillary rocked tonight. She looked great and she sounded great as well. And I say all this as a true conservative. I take full resposibility for what I'm saying and the consequences that follow.
The Doctor's role has always been played by a man. LOL SWBG, SWFBG, Shortfatandwhitebaldguy, it's hard to keep up. Sorry. Thanks for disagreeing with puke for brains poor choice of avatars
Amen Suelynn...me too!
Simpleton. You're living in a dream world. Wake up buddy, before you fall off that cliff. McCain's a joke and a puppet. Don't believe me?? LOL
Obama is undefeatable, the Republicans know this. Sooo...if they are going to be defeated, who shall they use as the sacrificial lamb? The Maverick of course, Mr. Party line crosser himself. The Republican party can't wait to see the McCain/Lieberman ticket torched. That way they'll be done with the both of them. Pretty logical if you look at it. If you're going to lose anyway, waste a pawn. LOL
mr. goodby,
not offended just trying to make light of it all. i could stand to lose a few pounds however. sometimes things do not translate as well in print.
babe,
i do not understand why you would be offended by Bill's mouthing "I love you" to his wife. all marriages have problems. most not so public. John McCain left his first wife but i guess that is OK. how many times has rush been married? Reagan was divorced. is that OK with you?
My analysis of Hillary's speech is that it was well written and well delivered. But it still had "it's all about me" theme. She essentially said that if you can't vote for me then Obama is all we have left.
And she still has not formally released her delegates.
shortwhitebaldguy
You wrote "it saddens me that so called enlightened individuals stoop to such tactics and do not engage in educated debate."
I agree. Perhaps some become flustered when rational, educated debate is presented to them and resort to such tactics that you mentioned. Some who post here are case studies of this.
As for McCain, there is no doubt that he was there in RVN, and was a prisoner of war. While mocking him, or, belittling the POW experience I find distasteful, I feel that reasoned discussion and debate as to some of the particulars surrounding that period is justifiable. First, Senator McCain takes every opportunity to promote his POW status. That was roughly 30-40 years ago. Is his status as a POW central to the debate today? I want to know who McCain is today, not what he was like 30-40 years ago. Often people change. Sometimes for he better, sometimes not. His positions, his votes, his actions today, are what are important to me as a voter.
His account of his imprisonment often differs from those who were with him, and even that of his original captors when he was shot down. I would just like to let it pass and concentrate on the current state of the nation, and his view on the issues.
I don't disrespect him for his service, but since millions of Americans were in Vietnam, and thousands of them were held as Vietnamese prisoners of war, most of both groups are reluctant to speak of thier time in country, I would just like to move on to McCain's more current qualifications to lead this nation.
Same for Senator Obama. I find it admirable that, after college, he did community organizing work in Chicago, worked among the poor, but, again, that was some time ago. What does Obama believe, how has he voted, and how would he lead this country?
That is what is most important to me.
Simpleton, if you're going to believe the polls, then then here is a tall of ALL the current polls.
RCP Average 08/18 - 08/25 -- 45.7 44.0 Obama +1.7
Gallup Tracking 08/23 - 08/25 2684 RV 44 46 McCain +2
Rasmussen Tracking 08/23 - 08/25 3000 LV 46 46 Tie

Why look...even FOX FAUX News has Obama winning! LOL

What do you have to say now smart guy??
SWBG
Bill and Hill have been estranged for years and no longer even share a home. They both have romantic involvements with others. They only rally together in an arena of politics because it plays with naive citizens. I am fully convinced, also, that neither can divorce the other because both know where the bones are buried. giggle
mr. goodby,
as a politician it does not surprise me that McCain would try to continue to use the POW status to enhance his image. that is merely being a politician. i do not get the sense that it holds as much weight today. however any candidate with war experience tries to exploit it. Jack Kennedy played up his PT boat experience as well. I do not fault McCain for such.
"My analysis of Hillary's speech is that it was well written and well delivered. But it still had "it's all about me" theme. She essentially said that if you can't vote for me then Obama is all we have left."
Then you're also living in a dream world. *giggle*

Where are your sources on this, and who cares? McCain is still going down. It wouldn't matter if Bill Clinton was married as many times as Elizabeth Taylor, Democrats still love Bill. Besides, it's irrelevant to Obama, and McCain will still lose.
babe,
you appear to have intimate knowledge on the relationship of Bill and Hillary that i am not privy to. is uspect that came from some fine internet sight which you can sight. i do not know the nature of their relationship other than they are married. for better or worse is what my vows said.
Babe
I think it was admirable for the Clintons to keep their marriage together...some take an easier road and divorce. I also like the fact that they still love each other after all they've been through (and you don't know different). They have seemed to have raised a healthy, happy, successful daughter. Why must you put Hillary down for doing what you say conservatives do...taking responsibility for what she's done and having dealt with the consequences for her actions. You ma'am sound bitter and jealous.
McCains long imprisonment as a POW is a FACT not a ploy. Gore and Kerry essentially falsified their versions of military service but McCain does not.
What about GW Bush's service record...want to brag about that one?
More Good News from Ameren.
About the only local story on the 5pm LOCAL news was a short blurb from Ameren that we should expect natural gas prices to increase at least 30% this winter.
It seemed to me, that our LOCAL news team was merely doing their report, based upon a press release from Ameren.
Babe we all know about the lies put out by Bush's Republicans about Kerry's record...that has been addressed since the last election. I'm surprised you'd brag about the Republicans attacking a vet like that...I guess it just takes all kind.
On LOCAL news at 5pm today
Cunningham did an interview bit with one of their advertisers Southeast Univerity on the topic of online education.
Now, in my opinion, that was a fluff piece, a pay off to one of their advertisers, that if it should ever seen the light of day, it should have aired either as a "Business Brake", or, in the Breakfast Show, a more magazine type program.
It simply wasn't news, not worth the several minutes that it took to do the interview.
Again, just my opinion.
suelynn
No, I'm not going to comment on Dubya's record any longer because soon he will be lifting off in that helicopter home after the transfer of power has taken place.
I suggest you inform yourself about the candidates for the next POTUS.
Simpleton,
As I said, polls/schmolls. You used it, now you're just upset because 5 other polls. (Including Republican based FOX NEWS) has Obama winning. Gallup, is a mere demigod in modern polling. How many times where these POLLS useless in the Primary? Using a poll for a source of "who is winning" is a lot like the Ameren Speculators raising winter power rates on the word of Farmer's Almanac.
Like the Almanac, polls numbers are enjoyable to read when they tell you want you want to hear. Good Luck with your polls. ;o) I'm sure Gallup will change their mind weekly from now til election time.
And babe's gone again, but she'll be back when she thinks we've all closed down for the night. Probably looking for something to cut and paste from freeper or wiki. That's what she does when she gets caught in her own web. Night babe.
Ain't Guine to Study War No Mo'.
The only more non-existant service record other than that of GW Bush's, is the one of Dick Cheney. By comparisons, while all four are neocons, and CFR members, Kerry, and Gore are "Heroes of the Homeland."
MOTHERLAND........COMMUNIST SOVIET UNION
FATHERLAND........NAZI-FASCIST GERMANY
HOMELAND..........AnAMERICAN complex THIRD WAY combination of the two above.
The times, they are a changin'
Then why in the world did YOU bring up Gore and Kerry's service...you don't have to answer, I already know. LOL
suelynn
No, I'm still here. I meant I was not going to waste my time talking of President Bush's record anymore and anytime.
"No, I'm not going to comment on Dubya's record any longer"
Of course you're not, you're afraid to show the close association between Bush and his puppet hugging boy, John "Flip-Flops" McCain.
I don't blame you...that would be a waste of time.
and the polling data is irrelevant when it is consistently wrong. Like you calling me a Liberal...Wrong wrong wrong. Always wrong. Your forum persona exemplifies you. Simpleton...through and through.
Dennis Kucinich
One of the best speeches tonight from Denver, was the one given by Dennis Kucinich.
He was really on fire, very annimated, and right on target. He ended with several verbal vollies of 'WAKE UP AMERICA, WAKE UP AMERICA.'
Rather rip snorting speech in my view.
SIMPLETON! LOL! You'll never understand that you just can't win. Never. When you come up with something more...debatable, hit me up. I'll be waiting. Change your name to Tom Foolery, it just may suit you better.
SIMPLETON....DEMOCRATS GIFTS TO BUSH
I do apologize if you have directed a question to me and I did not respond.
This will be short, for I tire and must get back to Lewis Black on the Comedy Channel...57 on cable, because he is getting to the best part of the routine.
The Democrats have given George Bush everything that he wanted and more in the recent Wire Tap Bill that includes amnesty for the scum telephone companies who wiretapped Americans without FISA authorization to do so. Remind me, and I will go into this more another day.
The Demcorats have given George Bush another $160 million, or, more for the continued occupation and slaughter of Iraqi's and Afghanis, two peoples who never harmed Americas. That money will be borrowed from our very good friends, the Communist Chinese, who already own us. Now, they will own your grandchildren.
The Democrats have chosen to spread the lies about "green jobs be a comin', you-uns just wait and see." If you think that corporations will suddenly hire Americans to build solar panels and wind mill genertors in the US at $10-$20 dollars an hour, you are a rube, a simpleton, a moron. These corporations who have off-shored our jobs with wild abandon under this president, will move the "green jobs" to the sweat shop Communist countries of Communist China and Communist Vietnam.
The Democrats, at least some of them, incuding Obama and Biden are huge believers in globalism, the off-shoring of jobs.
The Democrats spread the lie of "energy independence" and "getting free of foreign oil." That is just election talk, just as the Republicans role out the ole ABORTION issue and the new bone, HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE.
Neither party means what they say.
All the above being true, when it is all said in done, if I MUST vote for one of the two, I will have to vote for Senator Obama.
Locally, I will side with the local Democrats. Great people. I enjoy being around them. They are a lot more hospitable, down to earth, and real, than their local Republican counterparts in southeast Missouri. They are what I used to think that Republicans were. From top to bottom, from the national level to the local level, the Republican Party has changed. It wasn't for the good. I beleive it to be totally cloaked in darkness.
If you haven't gone to a local Democrat meet-up, or, meeting, especially, where food is served, you are missing out on a major blessing in life and fellowship.
Oh my goodness Robert G. If I started writing about the Bush crime family illegal, immoral, and deadly adventures I would still be writing solid this time next week. I know most people on here won't believe what I say anyway, but they could look up some of the published players in the Bush bin Laden gang and draw some of their own conclusions..
These people are so incredibly corrupt and evil that it is hard for good decent law abiding people like most of the posters on here to understand what you and I say RG. That is why the Bushes get away with what they want to do. ALL of the major news media (corporate fascists) are either part of the scams, bought off, or blackmailed to not expose them. When people do try to expose the crimes, they are passed off as kooks and conspiracy nuts and sometimes "suicided." The only place to get a grasp of the truth is the alternative media. Congress as we just saw with the Pelosi farce is intimidated by them too. Congress with few exceptions are just as corrupt as the Bushes.
I couldn’t care less what people think about me and what I say. I understand why people don’t want to believe what you and I talk about RG but some day they will be forced to believe it. They will finally run out of excuses why they defend these monsters when the true horror of what has been going on hits closer to their homes. I don’t hold any animosity for those who ridicule us or hate us. I have nothing but pity on them because it is going to be such an earth shaking shock to their souls when their denial expires and reality is finally realized.
Look up some of these names people. Gary Webb, Jim Bath, BCCI, Harken Energy, William Cooper, Cele Castillo was a DEA officer who worked with the CIA, Oliver North and had close encounters with Daddy Bush. He wrote an eye opening book called Powder Burns. Listen to these You Tube interviews with Cele. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su-LCxYz8xo
By the way Cele has not been "suicided", but he has been arrested on trumped up gun charges. No wonder people are afraid to speak out. At least he wasn't murdered.... Yet
Ditto the comments about the spineless traitorous Democrats RG. They are for the most part as evil as the Bushes. They love to spy on us as much as the neo-cons.
