The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team did not open the season Friday night as had been planned.
According to a news release from the university, the home game against Saint Louis University was postponed due to the threat of inclement weather.
The game will be rescheduled later in the season, although no date has been set.
Southeast's opening contest is now slated for 7 p.m. Aug. 29, when Missouri State visits.
Softball hires assistant
Former Southeast softball standout Michelle Summers will remain with the Redhawks' program as an assistant coach.
Summers, who played for Southeast from 2005 through 2008, was a four-time all-Ohio Valley Conference selection. She holds numerous school records, including for single-season home runs (14) and career home runs (48).
"I'm very pleased to have Michelle as a part of our coaching staff," Southeast coach Lana Richmond said in a release. "She wants to explore a career in coaching and this presents her the opportunity to gain valuable experience at the Division I level."
