New Hamburg targeted by thieves Thursday

Friday, August 22, 2008

Scott County officers are investigating a rash of break-ins reported early Thursday morning in New Hamburg, said Capt. Gregg Ourth of the Scott County Sheriff's Department.

Calls began coming in about the burglaries about 6 a.m., Ourth said.

About 10 vehicles were burglarized, as well as Schindler's Tavern, Ourth said.

Money, surveillance recording equipment and coins from the video game machines were reported missing from Schindler's, Ourth said.

No suspects have been arrested at this time.

I agree, that comment is uncalled for. Sounds like honest girl, may have had a run in or two with law enforcement.

The comment about Captain Greg Ourth is totally uncalled for. I have known him for years professionally. He is a hard working dedicated Law Enforcement Officer.

Honest_Girl,

You might want to do two things before posting, think before posting and spend a little more time in your GED classes on reading comprehension. Captain Ourth stated that the crimes were being investigated by “Scott County Officers”. This will include the Investigative Unit headed up by Lt. Jerry Bledsoe who has had a long and distinguished career in Law Enforcement as well as by the Road Deputies and in all likelihood Sheriff Walter. No one individual will be responsible for solving this case, but it will be a collaborative effort by the entire department and possibly other jurisdictions in this area as criminals are highly mobile.

You apparently have a personal issue with Captain Ourth and one can only guess why. I will not however, cast aspersions on your character as you have done with Captain Ourth.

I hope the perps' that committed this act realize that this is a popular stop for bikers, and they need to pray that the law gets to them first. The great thing about a small town like this is that it's very tight knit and everyone looks out for each other. It won't take long before someone around there figures out who did it.

Honest girl---?I'm confused. First you say that nothing will be solved with Ourth on the case. Which the article did not say that he was on the case. Second your first statement indicated that Ourth was lazy or did not know what he was doing. Now you are saying that he is dirty. Which is it??? Both are very point blank statements. Have you ever heard of libel? And just for your info, people who come on this site and spout off at the mouth like you do constantly really look childish and immature.

Honest_Girl,

If you have proof that Captain Ourth is a "dirty cop" in that he has committed illegal acts, you are obligated to report this criminal behavior. In my opinion, to know of illegal activity and do nothing about it is no different than committing those acts. In many cases it is viewed by the law as the same also. If I was Captain Ourth, I would contact an attorney to see what can be done about your remarks. You have gone way beyond stating your "opinion", reread your remarks.

Greg Ourth is a good man I have known him for over thirty years. No matter what job Greg has had over the years he has always worked at it very hard. Scott County will get this burglary solved just like they have others throughout the years. I don't why any one would jump on Greg Ourth he is a good man and has some great investigative common sense skills.

Honest_Girl,

Freedom of speech is not absolute, do some research.

What you state as “opinion” does not bother me one way or the other. You do not qualify your statements as “opinion”, you state as fact that Captain Ourth is a “dirty cop”. Having so stated, you are obligated to prove your statement and you really should report this information to the proper authorities. You have accused an individual with criminal misconduct without stating the nature of the crime or providing facts to back them up. How do you expect people to react to this?

HonestGirl?

Put up or shut up.

In my opinion the only thing "dirty" about Gregg is the fact that he dated a pill head for several years. Thankfully, he finally woke up! I think Scott County Sheriff's Department is doing a great job!

Honest_Girl

You really need to read up on your civil and criminal laws, if you think what you said is freedom of speech. Red Rhino is correct. If you think you can say anthing you want when you want, and not be held accountable for it, go to a movie and in the middle yell fire or bomb. Then you will find out that you in fact....you cannot. If you name a law enforcement officer by name and say he is dirty, (Ourth or any other) you had better have proof to back it up.
