Sheriff: Operating meth lab raided in Perry Co.

Perry County officers and members of the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force raided a methamphetamine lab at 211 Tanglewood Drive in Perry County, according to Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf. "The lab was in operation when officers arrived," Schaaf said. Chemicals and miscellaneous materials were seized, in addition to a number of firearms, Schaaf said. William H. Hapgood II, 33, and Melissa G. Hapgood, 33, were arrested and charged with drug-related offenses. Each faces two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of manufacturing a controlled substance in residence with child, possession of a chemical with intent to manufacture, possession of any methamphetamine precursor drug and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana. Bond was set at $25,000 each, cash only. A young child was allegedly present in the residence when officers arrived.
