Donnelly likely to seek re-count in Mo. AG primary

Thursday, August 7, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Attorney general candidate Margaret Donnelly is likely to ask for a re-count in her Democratic primary against Chris Koster.

Koster declared himself the winner of Tuesday's election. He has a 786-vote lead over Donnelly out of more than 346,000 votes cast. But the official results may not be certified until Aug. 26.

Donnelly has remained largely silent since the election.

Campaign manager Daniel Nava said Thursday that Donnelly has put her campaign on hold pending the certified results. Once the results are officials, Nava says Donnelly most likely will ask for a re-count.

Candidates can request a re-count whenever their losing margin is less than 1 percentage point.
