Missing Oran 19-year-old found dead under vehicle

Thursday, July 24, 2008

The body of a 19-year-old Oran, Mo., man who had been missing for three days was found Wednesday underneath his overturned vehicle on a rural Scott County road.

Kerrington B. "Blaik" Moss was last seen Sunday by family members, Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said.

Moss was driving eastbound on Route A about 1.6 miles east of Chaffee, Mo., when his 2000 Chevrolet ran off the right side of the road, according to an accident report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Moss was ejected from the vehicle. The exact date and time of the accident could not be determined, the patrol reported. Moss appeared to have been there for several days.

Moss' family began searching for him and his grandparents found the wrecked vehicle and the body, Walter said. The accident was not noticed earlier because the land next to the road slopes steeply away, there is tall grass and the vehicle came to rest against trees in a heavily shaded spot, Walter said.

"It is very hard to determine when the accident happened," Walter said.

There was no immediate evidence to suggest anything other than an accident was the cause of death, he said. Moss had not been reported missing, Walter said.

I am 28 with four kids of my own...I can't imagine being the parents of this boy...but if he was only 19 and no one had seen or heard from him in 3 days?? why hadn't they reported him missing. My mom freaks out if she calls me and can't get me...after three days she would have had me on Nancy Grace!!

Come on people!!!! Have some compassion! This family has lost a nineteen year old! Regardless of the circumstances, they are greiving! I am not questioning your religious background, but spirtually speaking, this family needs our prayers, not our questions!

This whole situation is horrible for everyone. The family especially. We also must keep in mind the emergency workers (Fire,Police and EMS) that respond to these calls and must deal with this also. I would think that it would not be easy to have to do that kind of work. Thank GOD for these people.

I think it's terrible when people tear apart someones tragic events in their lives. I'm sorry for the family and friends of this young man. I hope the people that commented never has any one picking apart their decisions about their private life- or do I? hum

This is a very hard time for all of his family and friends. And i think it is the wrong time to be asking questions. You dont know what was going on, im sure. Please keep his family, and friends in your prayers.

Since I am a family member I will respond to this post.

I cannot believe some of the cruelness that I find in people these days. Does it really matter the "who, what, when, where, and why's. There is more to this story than what you read in this paper. The bottom line is a 19 year old good kid is gone and his entire family is devastated. Where is the compassion?? I hope to God this tragedy never lands itself on your doorstep.
