Route W bridge replacement begins Wednesday

Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Work to replace a damaged bridge on Route W is expected to get underway July 9. Spring floods damaged a section of Route W between Oran and Perkins, forcing the closing of the bridge since March.

Missouri Department of Transporation officials said the bridge replacement is expected to be finished by the end of August. The section of the road will remain closed until the project is complete.

The $233,423 contract on the project was awarded to A.E. Simpson Construction of Scott City.

For more information, contact MoDOT's customer service center at 888-275-6636.

IF MODOT WOULD HAVE GOTTEN OFF THEIR BEHINDS AND AT LEAST TOOK OUT THE OLD BRIDGE TO START WITH THEY COULD HAVE SAVED A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY AFTER ALL MODOT GETS PAID WHETHER THEY WORK THEIR 3HRS DAYS OR NOT.

I WOULD FIND IT VERY INTERESTING TO KNOW HOW MANY MODOT PEOPLE THEIR ARE ON THE PAYROLL HERE IN THE SIKESTON DISTRICT IM SURE THERE ARE MANY HNDRED AND THEY CANT EVEN PATCH A HOLE IN THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT MAKING AT LEAST A THREE DAY ORDEAL OF IT ALL.

IM TIRED OF ALL OUR MONEY GOING TO GAS TAX AND PAYING FOR THESE HIGH PRICED BRIDGES THAT IF MO-DOT WOULD HAVE THE AMBITION AT ALL THEY COULD HAVE REPLACED THIS RT-W BRIDGE A LONG TIME AGO ,,, BUT THIS WOULD HAVE REQUIRED THEM ACTUALLY WORKING FOR THEIR SALARY.. NOT HAVING 50% OF THEIR TIME IN PAID LEAVES BIG DINNERS AND VACATION AND SUCH WHAT A WASTE THIS AREA SHOULD BE PRIVATIZED INSTEAD OF HAVING SO MANY DOING SO LITTLE
