DRIvIN RAIN confirmed for South Texas Rock Fest w/ Queensrÿche, Tesla, Dokken, L.A. Guns, Y&T, Skid Row, UFO, and others, over 40,000 expected.
Local hard rock band DRIvIN' RAIN has been confirmed to play the 2nd stage at The 2008 South Texas Rock Fest July 11-13 in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS.
Cape's very own DRIvIN' RAIN will play Saturday July 12 at 3:30 on the 2nd Stage. (Right between L.A. Guns and Faster Pussycat). The raingang will do songs from their 2004 s/t cd, and also from the 2006 "Delightfully Evil" disc. The band says they will also break out brand new song for this festival.
Since forming in 1994 Drivin Rain has already opened for bands like L.A. Guns, Skid Row, Nazareth, Steppenwolf,Saxon, Black Oak Arkansas, HeadEast, Ron Keel, Frank Hannon (of Tesal), Eddie Money, The Kentucky Headhunters, Pat Travers, Kiss Army, and many others. They have four cds out now, and will start recording a new disc this fall in Memphis. Andy Tanas (ex-Krokus/Black Oak/Legs Diamond) will help produce the new Drivin Rain cd.
Over 40,000 rock fans are expected to attend this years festival. It is one of the nations largest rock festivals this year. DRIvIN' RAIN singer Timexx Nasty says "It is like the Woodstock of Hairbands. Almost every band I loved as a kid is on this show. And it's a real honor to be one of a few unsigned bands who were asked to play on this show." Nasty added "This is by far the biggest show we have ever done. We feel like everything we have done up to this point was a build up to this show. We've done many festivals around the country, but this will be the biggest by far. They expect over 40,000. We are very lucky to be one of only a few unsigned bands to play this event. Britny Fox and XYZ headline the stage we play. It'll be our third show with L.A. Guns and second show with Skid Row. We have also opened for Frank Hannon of Tesla once in Kansas. So it'll be good to play with all of the guys from Tesla now. Also I never would have thought I'd be on a show with Queensryche. I remember standing in line to see them in St. Louis many times. Funny thing, a old friend of mine named Ratman first told me about Queensryche. And his other favorite band was The Godz. And they are on this show also!
The fact that we are on this show is a dream gig for us. The list of bands is awesome. If you would have asked me when I was 18 what bands I would want to play with. This would have been close to the list I'd have given you. Really all this leaves is Ozzy, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, and Kiss and I'll have opened for every band I loved as a kid. And I'm working on that!
Timexx goes on to say "We have a lot of friends that are buying tickets and going to this event. Some will drive, some will take a train, a few will just fly down. But we've heard from people all over the world who are going to this event. Really, it really is the Woodstock of Hairbands! If you loved those bands why wouldn't you want to go?! They even have these great VIP packages where you get to meet the bands. How can you beat that? This will be a chance for people to just forget about the war, or the gas prices, and just rock! Put your fist in the air, scream out in the holy name of rock n roll. And do it loud and proud under that big Texas sky. For the members of DRIvIN' RAIN, both current and past. It's a thing of pride. The team finally made it to the super bowl you know. And we are proud to bring a little Missouri thunder to the lone star state."
The festival is being held at Javelina Harley Davidson Fairgrounds. The venue has over 50 acres which includes: free parking, free camping, no city ordinances and is just 5 miles from great hill country riding!
Bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s will provide 3 days of non stop rock on two outside stages. The festival also has VIP packages that are a dream deal for hard rock fans.
