Many helped fund raiser succeed

To the editor:

Recently I had a yard sale to raise funds for the Women's Safe House, Network Against Sexual Violence and the Cape Girardeau Police Department. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this fund raiser an overwhelming success.

I want to thank the 32 families who donated items and everyone who attended the sale. I'm also grateful to my friends who let me use their card tables and clothing racks and to the Rev. Grant Gillard of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, which provided tables.

Enormous appreciation also goes to the Southeast Missourian for its superb coverage and to the Jackson Wal-Mart, which came to my rescue with extra bags.

A special thank you goes to the Speak Out caller whose words raised my spirits and spurred me on to reach beyond my goal.

All the women who opened their hearts to me were a guiding light throughout this fund raiser. They enriched my life more than they will ever know.

I am tremendously grateful to Jackson Fire Chief Brad Golden and Police Chief Jamie Humphreys. They were the inspirational force behind my idea for this fund raiser. If it weren't for them, I never would have had this rewarding experience.
