Another Mo. superdelgate backs Obama

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Presidential candidate Barack Obama claims another Democratic superdelegate from Missouri.

State Representative Maria Chappelle-Nadal endorsed Obama in his bid for the party's nomination at a news conference today in the St. Louis suburb of University City.

She says she struggled between throwing her support behind Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton. She says Obama's ability to inspire and involve voters won her over.

Obama now has the support of six Missouri superdelegates, while Clinton is supported by five. Five others have not backed a candidate.

Obama is expected to claim his party's nomination Tuesday night or soon after.
