Robbery closes Kingshighway, Kingsway

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

A possible armed robbery shut down part of Kingshighway around 6 p.m. today.

Cape Girardeau police responded to a call of a robbery at Medicap Pharmacy, 1020 N. Kingshighway. Police said that the robbery suspect had rushed into the pharmacy making demands, saying he had a weapon, though the Southeast Missourian has not confirmed whether or not the suspect actually had a weapon.

Police closed Kingshighway, between Cape Rock Drive and Hopper Road and Kingsway, which runs parallel to the east of Kingshighway, was also closed in that same section, according to Cape Girardeau Police Officer Freddie Hill.

The suspect was arrested a short time ago.

Police secured the scene shortly after the call, and an employee rushed out the back. The suspect remained inside, where police continued to negotiate with him for about a half an hour.

The robbery attempt is the second at a Medicap Pharmacy this month. On May 14, two brothers from Auxvasse, Mo., allegedly tried to rob a Medicap in Scott City using a knife and a fake bomb.

The perp is apparently one of the brothers arrested for the same thing a couple of weeks ago in Scott City and was out on bond. Hope he's be held without bond now! His time will be really hard if he has that kind of addiction. What a nutcase. He is several clicks below stupid.

Just seen on KFVS 12, these are the same suspects from the Scott City robbery. This is what happens when you have a judge in Scott County that is weak on setting his bonds, and is letting dangerous people out of jail on a daily basis. If these people had been in jail where they belonged, they could not have done this today. I bet you the Cape Co judge and prosecuting attorney will make sure this dont happen again. Scott County's judge should pay attention and think about what he has done and be held accountable if possible

I'll bet he spent the 30 minutes he was in the shop alone cramming everything he could get his hands on. Hope he couldn't break into the controlled cabinet.
