David Louis Thompson, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 19, 1938, at Charlotte Hall, Md., son of Joseph and Mary Hyde Thompson.
Thompson was a retired flooring installer for Thompson Carpets. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a 5-year resident of Cape Girardeau, formerly living in Stone Mountain, Ga., where he was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Thompson of Fort Riley, Kan., Brian Thompson of Scott City; a daughter, Sherri Thompson of Greenville, S.C.; three brothers, John Thompson of Townsend, Mass., Dennis Thompson of Oroville, Wash., Sonny Thompson of Thompson's Corner, Md.; four sisters, Joan Danielson of Indian Head, Md., Ann Luck of Birmingham, Ala., Peggy Harrell of Mobile, Ala., Mary Ellen Masiello of Snowville, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Scott City.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bryan McCallister officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
