Richard Lewis, 95, of Jackson died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 23, 1908, in Jackson, son of Edward R. and Mora F. Ford Lewis. He and Mary Elizabeth Kneibert were married in 1932. She died in 1971. He and Phyllis McManus-Dockins were married in 1972.
Lewis was a graduate of Jackson High School, and a lifelong resident of Jackson. He retired as a Mobil Oil distributor in 1972. He was a lifetime member of Jackson Optimist Club and was instrumental in the club's establishment of Jackson Little League.
Survivors include his wife of the Lutheran Home; three sons, Dick Lewis of Pearl River, N.Y., Dr. Bob Lewis of Port Angeles, Wash., Don Lewis of Brazeau, Mo.; a daughter, Mary Ann Haynes of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Bruce Dockins of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Ruth Colyer of Jackson; a brother, Denver Lewis of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-stepgranddaughter.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, a sister and a great-stepgranddaughter.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Graveside service will be held Monday at Russell Heights Cemetery, with Charles Ford officiating.
