Class Act Gymastics of Jackson competed in the AAU Gymnastics National Championship meet for the first time and brought back a number of individual honors. The team also had the highest point total of any Missouri clubs at the meet, which took place in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Ashley Gegg, 13, placed first on the uneven bars for Level 5 gymnasts, earning the gym's first top finish in a national meet.
"It was a pleasant surprise, a payoff for a lot of hard work," said Shawn McNally of Class Act.
Gegg also placed fifth in the floor exercise.
In Level 4 competition: Sammie Meyer, 13, was third on uneven bars and eighth in the vault; Jessica Hagerty, 11, was seventh on uneven bars and 12th on vault; Rachel Michelson, 9, was ninth on vault and 13th on balance beam; Crystal Gosnell, 12, was 11th on uneven bars; and Randi Wiley, 11, was seventh on uneven bars.
The meet wrapped up the season for Class Act, which has been competing for 11 years and participated in national meets for other sanctioning bodies in the past.
