Carl Humphrey Farrar, 72, of Cape Girardeau was born March 11, 1932, in Advance, Mo., the son of the late Frank Oaks and Edith Humphrey Farrar, and passed away July 4, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Carl was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. He had been a towboat chief engineer for the Upper Mississippi Towing Co. Carl retired from Rental Land in Cape Girardeau. He also was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Carl and Colleen Bekemeyer were united in marriage on June 30, 1956, at Hamel, Ill., and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Vicki Farrar of Cedar Park, Texas; a brother, Bill Farrar of Rolla, Mo.; five sisters, Emma Jane Henrichsen of Cape Girardeau, Mary Evans of Cape Girardeau, Verda Minton of Katy, Texas, Dorothy Bowers of Cape Girardeau and Alice Ketcher of Cape Girardeau; and four grandchildren, Kristen Farrar of Austin, Texas, Gabrielle Farrar, Nathan Farrar and Amelia Farrar, all of Cedar Park, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Farrar, and a grandson, Jesse Oaks Farrar.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
The Rev. Paul Short will officiate with the Rev. Jack Ketcher assisting. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
