Letter to the Editor

Liberated French always grateful

To the editor:

Politics aside and on a more personal point of view, I would like to respond to the critics of France and its people.

As a young girl growing up in France during the German occupation, we were liberated by Gen. George S. Patton's army. We were hungry, and the Americans fed us. We were cold, and the Americans gave us blankets. These facts are anchored in my mind and in the minds of my contemporaries. We are and always will be grateful to our liberators for their caring and generosity.
