TAMMS, Ill. -- A 40-year-old Alexander County, Illinois, man was killed Tuesday night and a 16-year-old male juvenile is being held in connection with his death. According to the Alexander County Sheriff's Department, around 9:27 p.m. Tuesday deputies and the Illinois State Police were called to a domestic disturbance on Tatum Road near Tamms. Michael E. Nix, who lived at that location, was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital where Coroner Mike Hurst pronounced him dead from multiple stab wounds in the chest and back. The weapon, a solid-blade knife, was recovered at the house, Hurst said. Authorities located the juvenile at another Alexander County residence and took him into custody. He is being held in juvenile detention facilities; formal charges are pending.
