Angel in balcony gives photo gift

On Sept. 4, 1965, at St. Mary's Cathedral, a double wedding was taking place. As the first young bride and groom exited the church's front door in gown and tuxedo, there came a tap on the shoulder of the new bride. As she turned she saw a familiar face. The voice asked is there was no photographer taking pictures. Our reply was that our funds did not permit the extra luxury. The hand took the bride's hand and said for the bride and groom to meet him at his studio on Broadway, which was very familiar to me.

Upon arrival at the studio, we were greeted at the door by a gentle face and the warm hand of Paul Lueders, the well-known photographer and award-winning artist. Our wedding pictures today hang on our living room wall. And our three children have copies. Most of all, my brother serving in Vietnam at the time received a photo from back home, thanks to the angel who came down from the church balcony and gave us memories of a wedding.

I'm sure Paul Lueders was as kind to others as he was to my family. He was that kind of man.
